Stronghold: Arkfuth
Appearance: Most of the city is built inside a large, natural stone cavern. Part of the rock is limestone. A part of the city is built outside, and a curved wall spans the outside. Right inside the battlements are the various smelters and smithies. On either side of the battlements are twin waterfalls. Inside the cavern, holding up the ceiling, are giant columns of rock made from stalagmites and stalactites that have grown together. Houses are either free standing or carved from the rock walls. Free-standing houses are made of limestone, tarred timber, and a mixture called cob (clay, sand, water, and straw) which is heat-resistant, flexible, and retains warmth. Some houses are cut from higher-up in the wall, with carved stone steps leading up to them.
Location: at the beginning of the Gildas fjord that runs through the Issodun mountain range, carved out by glaciers in the distant past. Sits in between two raging waterfalls.
Climate: because of the huge twin waterfalls that the town is built between, it's always chilly and humid, with lots of wind created by the water. it sits at a lower altitude than Summercourt.
Population: City. ~170 civilians.
Politics: Viscount Snakha (a Sableye halfling). ~8 guards. The banner is white with a Braviary.
Exports: mainly mining. There's tons of caves around, and precious ores and gems are the main export. They also supply most of the stones and rocks for building houses and paving roads. Major smithing town. They also work with High Ash to transport timber downriver to Newgale for export. Some river fish swim there.
