Newgale
Appearance: Situated on the coastline of Camése, Newgale is at the prime spot for trade. The sturdy walls surrounding the city on all sides but the coast side protect the city well but also do not allow for growth. All the buildings are very cramped and close-together. The city's population has "grown too big for its breeches". Because there is no more room to spread out horizontally, most if not all buildings have second (and sometimes third) floors, to increase the vertical living space. To combat the humidity and soft soil of the region, houses are built with a foundation and first floor of a potpourri of different rock types, and the second stories are mainly made from oak wood, which is resistant to humidity.
Location: in the estuary region to the south. the Gildas river rushes around it and drains to the Violet sea below. The docks are situated in the low estuary, and the rest of the coastline rises up in high, rocky cliffside. To the west of the city there is a very treacherous bay, with a nigh-invisible current that takes many an inexperienced ship crew to get stuck there and wreck their ship on the rocks.
Climate: humid. foggy in the mornings and nights, and on overcast days, it's also misty. The ground is very fertile, but near the coast it erodes easily. some houses are damaged by the unstable earth. The fact that all the trees around this area have been chopped down contributes to the unstable coastline.
Population: Big city. ~200 individuals. Mostly humans.
Politics: Archduchess Adrianne (human). ~8 city guards. banner is lavender with a Swampert
Exports: their expansive docks let boats from all regions trade with them. there's a crowded dock market with tons of small businesses. farms and plantations are situated right outside the city gates. there are fisheries in between here and the cove hamlet. main exports are rice, barley, beer, pigs/pork, chicken, eggs, fish, common spices, sugarcane, rum, clay, clothing dyes, moss, and other bedding materials.
