12 Days of Anime: Ef - A Tale of Memories

Episode 3 (Day 3)

First, can I just say that I love the art direction in this show? Each emotion is well punctuated with a picture, whether that picture is a happy or sad one, or whether it needs to break conventional animation in order to convey it.

As for plot and characters, it looks like issues have already popped up between Renji and Chihiro, (as well as other characters), which is nice, because now we have the plot moving along a little faster. What happened between those two is really sad, though, and I do hope it mends itself soon, and they can see each other...

And the dynamic between Hirono and Kei is changing, and that also makes me intrigued for what's going to happen next. I'm really glad that the plot is moving along better.

Not much more to say on the animation and sound portions, other than on the opening I noticed that the supposed story was shorter than I had originally thought, but also harder to read than I had originally thought (the text moves fast). I might try and pause it in future episodes in order to be able to read the entire thing. Oh, and I finally connected the idea of writing in the opening with the relationship between Chihiro and Renji - that they both want to write (and I'm predicting that they both will write something together).

I've started to enjoy this anime more than I was last episode, and I'm kinda excited for the next one (though I'll watch it tomorrow, due to time constraints).
