The bell rang as the next day of school began. Jeff's seat still remained empty as the teacher began to take a role count of the students in the class. Jessie simply stared at the empty seat and thought of reasons why Jeff could be missing, none of the reasons she came of with were good ones.
"Jessie?" the teacher called, "I need you to pay attention while I'm taking role, ok?"
"Huh?" Jessie took her eyes off of the desk for a moment, "oh, yes. I'm sorry." After that her vision was set back upon the desk and her thoughts became clouded again with the terrible thoughts about Jeff's disappearance.
John on the other hand had absolutely no thoughts of Jeff in his mind as he merely payed attention to the teacher and began to work on his homework when it was assigned. He merely let it off as Jeff running away to get the attention so that he could come back and be showered with pity all kinds of people wondering where he had been. John saw no need to worry about Jeff, he was a major attention grabber, and John had no pity for that.
