~Candice~

Snow couldn’t hide it from me. Something was bothering him, I could tell by the way he was almost whispering to Talon. I wasn’t stupid, I was sure it was about that dream he had. He was a human in it. What could this mean? He was a spirit, and not a human one either, so why would he be dreaming such a thing. I didn’t know, but I ate quietly and kept my thoughts to myself. It had been a good day so far, and I still had another night I could spend here since it was Saturday in the real world.

“I’m going to go for a walk.” I stretched. I was the first one done. “No need to rush, I’ll be right outside. I won’t wander far.” I assured everyone. They nodded and I left. It would give them some time to themselves so that maybe they could talk about it freely. Not only was I human, I was also a girl. That obviously threw up tensions right away. I wandered out to the gardens since I hadn’t actually gotten to look at them. Some flowers were normal. Forget-me-nots, roses, lilacs and lilys were all included. But there were others that looked rather unworldly. Some that corkscrewed out and were multicolored, and others that were muted and drooped that seemed to shudder in the breeze. The fountain in the middle was pretty, made out of the same stone the rest of the castle was made of. In the fountain pool there were some large Koi swimming around. Even though I didn’t have a coin, I closed my eyes and made a wish.

“Hello.” I heard a deep voice. My eyes snapped open and I saw a man with shimmering red hair that went to his elbows, straight and smooth as a pin before me. His eyes matched the piercing shade of red in his hair and he smiled, dazzlingly. I jumped back, obviously caught off guard. “You must be the human girl.” He said.

“And you are?” I asked cautiously. I hadn’t met him and I didn’t remember seeing him on the cover of the game. He chuckled.

“Quite weary aren’t you? That’s good considering some of the spirits you are keeping company with.” He said.

“I already know about Snow, and it doesn’t bother me.” I said firmly.

“Of course, you did see his other form, and you haven’t disappeared. Just do be careful, he attacked all the damsels I had lined up for him.” He waved his arm. “Should you ever feel threatened or unsure, the Goddess is nice, and lovely to boot, but she can be selfish at times. Come see me for an honest and rather unbiased answer or bits of advice.” He looked at me with a slight smirk. “Snow does have lovely taste, no wonder none of the other maidens worked. You have a sweet scent too, rather intoxicating.” He took a step forward and I looked around. There wasn’t anyone else around and if I screamed I had a feeling that would be the end of me. I decided to stall and pry for more answers.

“T-Thank you, how flattering. You haven’t answered my other question though. Would you grace me with your name?” I asked. He stood up a little straighter and looked quite smug.

“My name? I’m sure you’ve heard of it. I have a bad reputation, but had I desired to hurt you, I most certainly would have done it by now. I am Snow’s old master, Azar.” He said. I knew it. “And that was an impressive display you put on in my castle. I have never seen Snow go that far before, and I was certain he was lost for good this time, and that you were dead for sure. But you surprised me, and intrigued me.” He reached out and I froze as he toyed with a piece of my hair.

“Why is that?” I asked, trying to control my voice.

“Well, of course it’s because you are human, but I guess it’s how you could have tamed Snow. You must posses a powerful gift to have been able to make him fall in love.”

“I have no tricks, I’m just me.” I answered.

“I should like to know more, Candice.” He looked intensely at me and as I opened my mouth, I heard Snow’s voice bellow out.

“Candy! Get away from him!” Azar looked over and saw snow rushing towards us.

“Remember my words.” I blinked and he was gone.

“Candy, he didn’t hurt you right?” Snow asked, checking me over.

“No, he just talked.” I said honestly. “I’m sure he was just trying to play mind games with me. He tried to get me to say I would talk to him if I have questions.”

“If you ever see him again get away from him. He’s nothing but trouble.” He said seriously. I nodded.

“I understand.”

“Good. Now lets get inside. I can’t shake this dream thing. I’m going to go talk to Goddess Amora, come with me?” He asked. I nodded.

“Of course. Lets go see if we can get some answers, or at least a little bit of clarity. I’m curious too.”
