Gathering dust...

I don't respond to a lot of my comments...sorry. I love them and am so grateful to receive them, but I usually only respond when I have something interesting to say. :/
So sorry if I offended anyone with this habit of mine. ;___;

This place really is like family.

When I first joined theO way back in the day, it was a kind of secondary audience to supplement my dA account.

Now I've pretty much abandoned dA and I'm posting mainly here and on tumblr. Looking back, dA had such a caustic atmosphere and it felt like everyone was always trolling or on the defensive. TheO is a much smaller website, but everyone here really is tremendously friendly.

Almost all of the comments I receive (maybe all of them?) are thought-out and heartwarming and totally make my day. As opposed to the "lol"'s and "omg"'s and ":P"'s that I was getting on dA.

tl;dr love you guys. :)

inuyasha, cosplay

Cosplaying human Inuyasha, still need to make Tessaiga. Patterns somewhat
historically accurate (aka no elastic lol), 100% hand-sewn for...some reason.

Summer plans!

Hey everyone!

I'm spending my summer on the east coast for the first time. I haven't gotten any positive replies from my (29 OTL) premed internships, so I'm staying on campus to do research with my current lab.

I'm missing con season in California (first time missing AX in a while) but I'm making plans to go with one of my suitemates to Otakon!

I'm applying for part-time summer jobs right now, but between that and lab work I should still have plenty of time for cosplay and sewing projects.

Can't wait til finals are over next week. (✖╭╮✖)

Con season is coming!

Won't be in SoCal this summer, so I'm missing out on Anime Expo and AM2. ;A;

BUT. Since staying at school for research puts me on the East Coast, I am within reach of Otakon! ;www;

Posting art

I've always been really self-conscious about art that I post online, and I'm a bit of a perfectionist.

But now that I think of it, if no one sees your mistakes then no one will see you improve.

I think my new rule of thumb for posting art is this: If I'm proud of it, then it's okay if I made some mistakes on the way. I've been drawing for a really long time and I guess I can say that there are artists on theO who look up to me (it's so embarrassing to write that o////o) so I think it's a good thing to show that everyone makes mistakes sometimes, and no artist is perfect.

A lot of people only post the best of their art, which, while very nice to look at, can be deceptive. For every good piece, there's a hundred ugly messed up sketches that it took to get there.
