Into the Abyss

James was laying on the hammock attached to the beams in the top of the of William's house. He was quite content with himself, and his bandaged arm as well. He also recognized how bone-headed his move was and that she probably could have cut his hand off if she hadn't slowed her weapon. Suddenly he felt more moronic than he did feel impressed with his training completion.
"am I an idiot?" he leaned down to the others.
"Yes, but in your case it works" Max replied. She gave an unconvincing smile that may have meant to melt away any hard feelings. All James could do was think about the days when he was just 'Jeff, the great under-achiever and slide by grade passer'. He sat looking out of a hole that he had accidentally put in the roof during his training(William still hadn't forgivin him for it), and all he could think about was how Jessie must have felt when he just, up and dissapeared. He thought about how she must have felt, even now, about him being gone for nearly an entire year, but then his thoughts were interrupted when Max threw an apple at him.
"Didn't you hear me! dinner's ready, now hurry up or I'll let William take it." Max said.
"I'm coming! he yelled down as he cleared his mind of all of the previous thoughts.
