Believe Me (MCL fanfiction)

Chapter 6: Hearts Racing

-Kentin-

This was fun teasing her. Before it was always her teasing me. It was only fair to return the favor. Besides she was teasing me herself in her white and light pink shorts and a matching spaghetti strap tank top with a heart on it.

“Won’t your Aunt get mad if she sees me here in just a pair of shorts?” I asked as we went to the kitchen.

“My Aunt won’t be back till late tonight one of her friends set her up on a blind date that she wasn’t too thrilled about.” Rain answered as she opened up the fridge.

“Hopefully it turns out well for her though. It’s always nice to have a good time.” I stated. “So what should we make?” I asked.

“I was just thinking something easy like chicken, veggies and mac and cheese or something like that.” She answered pulling two packs of chicken out of the fridge. “I got these out this morning so I want to be able to use them.

“That sounds good. But why did you get out two. You look like you can only eat one.” I commented.

“Well I didn’t know if auntie was coming home and would be hungry because she didn’t like the dinner she had on her date. So I figured that I would make more for her just in case.” She explained.

That is really sweet of her to think of her aunt like that. I looked through a few of the cupboards and found the pots and pulled one out then filled it with enough water for the noodles.

“Have you called your parents to let them know that you were here?” Rain asked.

I nodded, “I did when you were in the shower.” I mentioned and looked over to see her climbing on the counter to get into the higher cupboard. “What are you doing?” I laughed lightly walking over to her.

“I’m getting a box of mac and cheese down.” She said and put the box down on the counter and was getting down herself but slipped. I caught her and our faces ended up inches away from each other. We both blushed. I was so close to her I just wanted to press my lips against her soft lips. I could smell her strawberry shampoo coming from her hair.

“Are you alright?” I asked trying to slow my heart down.

“Thanks for catching me. I’m such a klutz sometimes.” She lightly laughed sheepishly.

I set her down and smiled, “Maybe I should get the high stuff from now on.” I stated, which she gave me her pouty face and huffed and crossed her arms looking away from me. This made me laugh; she was cute no matter what she did.

“Fine.” She muttered.

She got out a skillet as I started cutting up the chicken into cubes. We cooked dinner and it actually turned out pretty good. My clothes were done by the time that we finished dinner.

I changed into my clothes and then helped Rain with the dishes and put what was left over away. “I should probably head home.” I sighed noticing that it was almost 6 o’clock.

“Alright. I’ll see you tomorrow then?” Rain asked as she walked me to the door.

“Of course.” I smiled up at her while I put my boots on. They were still damp but they would be fine for me to make it the rest of the way home in. It was still raining anyways so it didn’t really matter.

I stood up and grabbed my umbrella and my damp bag. “I’ll see you tomorrow then.” She smiled at me.

I kissed her cheek and smiled softly down at her. “Good night Rain.” I said opening the door and walking out.

“G-Good night Kentin.” I heard her say before I shut the door.

I feel like I melted after I got home. I couldn’t believe that I just kissed her cheek. I wanted to do more then that, but what if she didn’t like it? I shouldn’t think that way. I had to stay positive. Now I need to think of what I’m going to do for her birthday that’s on Saturday. I could worry about that tomorrow though for now I just needed to get some sleep.

When I got to school in the morning Rosalya pulled me into a classroom were Alexy, Violette, and Iris were waiting. “What’s up?” I asked confused.

“We want to throw a birthday party for Rain.” Iris said.

“Okay but why do we have to talk about it here and why do I need to be here to know that?” I asked confused.

“Because we already got the okay to throw the birthday party at her apartment from her aunt and we need time to set it up.” Violette said quietly.

“And you need someone to distract her so that you can set it up. Is that why I’m here?” I asked putting my hands in my pockets.

“It will be great. We’ll tell Rain that we set her up on a blind date and she’ll be so surprised that it’s you. You’ll just have to keep her out of the house for a few hours. So take her to a movie or something.” Rosayla clapped her hands.

“Y-You want me to take Rain out on a date?!” I said shocked.

“She told us all about last night how you stayed for dinner and how you kissed her cheek before you left.” Iris mentioned and I blushed a bit.

Just how much did she tell about last night to these three? I mean I know that we didn’t do anything but still…

“So will you do it?” Violette asked me.

“S-sure I can do it.” I smiled.

“Great! Tomorrow after school you are going with Alexy shopping you are not going on a date with her looking like that.” Rosalya stated pointing at my clothes.

“What’s wrong with my clothes?” I asked looking down at them.

“You’re out of style and I’m going to spice up your look Kenny.” Alexy winked at me.

“It’s Kentin.” I corrected.

“I’m going to be taking Rain shopping tomorrow too so we have to try to make sure that we don’t run into each other.” Rosayla mentioned.

“Why can’t you take her today after school.” I asked.

“I’m going to help her clean out the basement so that we can set up the stage for the concert.” She answered.

“What are you five up to?” I turned on my heels to see Rain poking her head in the door of the classroom.

“Oh nothing we were just talking was all.” Rosayla said.

Rain frowned and looked around at all of us, “I know you are all up to something. I swear I will find out what it is.” Rain commented.

“Rain help me on my homework for English. I didn’t quite get the work sheet that Mr. Fraz gave to us.” Alexy said running over to Rain and pulling her away.

“Okay ten in the morning is when you are going to pick her up. Here’s her cell number. Bring her back at three. You two should have plenty of time to be alone together.” Rosayla said handing me a small piece of paper. “I also put my number on there so that way we can text you if we need more time. Let us know when you are heading back too.” She explained.

“Right, I think I got it.” I nodded looking at the numbers on the piece of paper.

“Don’t worry you’ll do great. Now remember ten in the morning don’t be late.” Iris said and the three girls left the classroom.

I was being set up on a date with Rain…you don’t know how excited I am about that. But what am I going to do with her for that amount of time that they need to set everything up. And now I guess I’m going to have to let Alexy change my wardrobe. This was going to be a long process getting ready in a short period of time.
