Chapter 4: It’s a Rainy Day

-Kentin-

“You know Kenny, Lysander and Rain spent a day at the beach during the summer.” Alexy smiled at me.

“So she was hanging out with a friend that’s not terrible.” I commented.

“But it started raining and they had to get really close to each other under his shirt to be able to get out of the rain. Then during the fundraiser they got lost in the woods together.” He said.

“So why are you telling me this?” I asked a bit frustrated.

“I’m just saying that it seems Lysander is closer to her then you will ever be.” He winked at me.

“That’s a lie.” I said.

“Then tell me why you never sent her letters while you were at military and she went through so much. She thought you hated her and was trying to move on. Then you show back up after two years of no contact with her. How do you think she feels now?” Alexy asked and my lip twitched.

I hit the wall with my fist as the water from the showerhead beat down on my head. Why couldn’t I get that conversation out of my head? He’s just trying to piss me off isn’t he? He wants me to give up on her. I’m not going to do that. I’m going to prove to her that I didn’t forget about her. I just have to find those letters that I sent to her. I was stupid enough not to get her actual address so that I could send them to her directly and I put too much trust in my father to get them to her. He put them somewhere…that also means that he put her letters to me somewhere too.

I finished with my shower and got out. I dried myself off and threw on a pair of shorts and a tank top then brought my clothes back to my room and tossed them in my hamper. ‘I have to find those letters.’ I wandered out of my room and went to my dad’s office. He was sitting at his desk writing something and I knocked on the doorframe to get his attention.

“What is it?” He said and I leaned on the doorframe.

“Do you remember Rain? She told me today that she was sending me letters over the past few years, but I never got any. I know that she had to give them to you so do you know where they went?” I asked crossing my arms over my chest.

“I don’t remember getting any letters from her.” He said.

“Father…I know that you didn’t give her my letters either. Where did you put them? Why didn’t you want us communicating with each other?” I questioned.

“She’s a distraction. She would have only getting in the way of your studies. I couldn’t have that so I didn’t send you her letters.” He answered not looking up at me.

“And you decided that my letters wouldn’t get to her either. Trying to make it look like I hate her and never wanted to see her again.” I stated and he looked up at me with his usual frown on his face.

“This conversation is over.” He said.

“But father…” I started but he glared at me.

“This conversation is over Kentin.” He repeated with more harshness in his voice.

My heart dropped and I looked down at the floor, “Yes sir.” I muttered pushing off the wall and going back to my room. I had a feeling that the letters were in his office. I just had to get in there when he isn’t home so that way I can try to find the letters.

I went back into my room and turned on my PS3 since that’s all I could really do right now. I played Assassin’s Creed for a few hours then just went to bed. I should have gotten Rain’s number before she left school today. I could have at least talked to her. I guess that will have to wait till tomorrow.

~*~

It was a cloudy morning when I walked to school. My mom made me take an umbrella with me just in case it started raining. When I got to school I saw that Rain made it there before I did. She must have had things to do this morning. That could be why I didn’t see her on my walk to school. I started walking over to her and I saw that she was with Lysander and she seemed happy. It was nice to see her smile. Then I saw her hug him and the sting of jealously pierced through me like someone had just shot me in the heart. Why is it that she can do this to me so easily? Ever since we were little I’ve always liked her and as we grew up I just fell head over heels in love with her, But I was too afraid to say anything to her. I wish I had the balls back then to say something to her before I left.

That was my own stupid fault and now I’m paying for it. I have to prove it to her that I’ve more then just grown in appearance. I still haven’t fallen out of love with her. Even after this two year of not being able to talk to each other nothing has changed. Well other then she’s gotten hotter and more confident it seems like. I took a deep breath to calm myself before walking over to her and Lysander.

“Morning.” I waved to them with a gentle smile on my face.

“Good morning Kentin.” Lysander smiled with a small nod of his head.

“Kentin, I was able to convince Cas to play in the concert for the school fundraiser.” She said confidently putting her fist on her hips and sticking her chest out proudly.

This made me chuckle, She still hasn’t changed. “So have to found a few other people for the band yet. It can’t just be Castile and Lysander.” I commented.

“I bumped into Iris and she said that she would ask her brother if she could borrow his guitar now I just have to find one more person to play the drums.” She answered.

“I’m sure someone can play the drums here.” I stated.

“It’s a big school, you never know.” Lysander mentioned. “But we all should head to our classes before we get into trouble.

Classes went by in a blur. I didn’t really have anything other then how to get those letters from my dads study. That was a big thing. If I could find them then I could give Rain all the letters that I wrote her and show her that I never forgot about her. By the time that classes let out it was pouring outside. I saw Rain standing at the doors of the school looking out. I could see her debating on going out in the rain to walk home or not.

“Hey Rain what’s up?” I asked her walking over.

“I forgot an umbrella. I thought that it was going to clear up today.” She sighed.

“Well then do you want to walk home with me? I brought an umbrella with me.” I stated.

“Rain! Are you going to ride home with Alexy and I today?” Amrin Shouted as he ran over to us.

“That’s not fair I ask her to walk home with me Amrin.” I glared at him.

“But I can get her home faster in my car and she won’t get wet if a car goes past.” Amrin commented glaring back at me.

“Please stop it you two.” Rain said.

“Who do you want to go home with Rain?” Amrin asked.

That is one thing that you never want to do is put pressure on someone. She looked between the two of us and shook her head, “Please just…don’t make me choose.” She said and a tear slipped down her cheek from the corner of her left eye and she ran out into the rain.

“What are you stupid or something? You never put pressure on someone like that.” I said with anger in my voice.

“If you didn’t come back we would have never had this problem and she would still be happy and not confused.” Amrin shouted back.

“Stop it both of you!” Lysander yelled over top of us; which shocked me because I didn’t think that he was one to raise his voice. “Right now we need to find Rain. That’s what’s important.” He was right.

I ran out into the pouring rain to look for her. I shouldn’t have gotten into an argument with Amrin in the first place. “I’m so stupid.” I groaned looking around. “Rain! Rain where are you?” I yelled but I know that I wasn’t going to get a response.
