Kyrachan's Top 80 Countdown

80 - 71

80. Erased ED - "Sore wa Shiisana Hikari no Youna"

TV Version

This is the remnant of a large portion of already-ranked OP's/ED's to be cut off the tail end. And honestly, I'm glad it made it. Even a year and a half later, I still love this ending, and watching it brings so much of the emotions of the anime. Not to mention the lyrics. Those are fantastic.

79. Rampo Kitan OP - "Speed to Masatsu"

TV Version | Music Video

I absolutely love the grungy nature of this opening. It adds so much to the horror element. On top of that, it fits so well with the series. A lot of beats of the ideas and morals of the anime are reflected in the opening. Overall, a fantastic opening.

78. Paradise Kiss ED - "Do You Want To"

TV Version | Music Video

Last year I worked with a guy who was in the fashion design scene. Now that I'm working at the same place this summer, but without him there, every time I do something that reminds me of him, I'm also reminded of this anime. And it's great that this anime has that kind of staying power. The ending, of course, helps with that. The simplistic designs, combined with the super catchy Franz Ferdinand song, makes an enjoyable ED that I'm glad made the cut.

77. Subete ga F ni Naru ED - "Nana Hitsuji"

TV Version

Man, the patterns are beautiful in this. It's not unlike the Tatami Galaxy ED, except this one has more visual themes taken from old computers and digital graphics, perfect for the highly logical nature of the series, and it all perfectly moves with the music. The icing on the cake, however, is when it all pulls away to reveal Magata's face. It's such a gorgeous and grand moment that it's hard to ignore.

76. House of Five Leaves OP - "Sign of Love"

TV Version | Full Version

To be honest, the love of this opening mostly stems from the song, especially the lyrics. They're so inspirational, so uplifting, it makes me happy and emotional every time I listen to it. On top of that it beautifully fits with the very down-to-earth, yet realistic nature of the anime. The song helps bring back memories of the characters, their joy and their sorrow. For that reason, I love this opening.

75. Nana ED 2 - "Starless Night"

TV Version | Full Version

Ahh, the first new one, and the only new one for a little while. Most of them are more near the front. I love this song so much. The melody and guitar are fantastic, and help reflect a lot of the emotion in the anime. Though the image is simple, it still looks like it belongs on one of the haunting covers of the manga.

74. Ef – a tale of memories OP - "Euphoric Field"

TV Version | Full Version

One of my favorite parts of this opening has always been trying to pause and read the story in the background. It's brilliant how they incorporated Chihiro's story in it. On top of that, the smooth animation and sweeping music add so much. The big cherry on top, however, is the stunning second version that appears in the last episode.

73. One Punch Man OP - "The Hero!!"

TV Version | Music Video

Okay, let's be honest here, who doesn't shout "ONE PUUUUUUUNCH!!!" every time this opening comes on? It has such a catchy energy to it that it's impossible to not want to jump up and start punching the air when listening (and, most likely, singing along) to this song. It's just that upbeat.

72. Hibike! Euphonium OP - "Dream Solister"

TV Version | Full Version

I wasn't expecting to put this on the list last year, and when I looked at it in my rankings, I wondered to myself, "What the heck is this doing here?" But then I rewatched it, and, I mean, they spell the names using music symbols and it's so colorful and so cute and ahhhh I love it. Not to mention the way they show the characters playing instruments it reminds me of some of the professional pictures taken of the bands I've been in. I guess as much as I try to brush aside Hibike! Euphonium, I need to start giving it more credit.

71. Hellsing OP - "World Without Logos"

TV Version | Full Version

Sometimes you just gotta let the rule of cool take over. This is one of those times. I mean, yes, the anime is terrible, and I will never stop saying that, but this opening, it's just so... stylish. It embodies the inherent coolness that Alucard seems to have, and that's reason enough to put it on this list.
