Welcome to my little corner of The Otaku!

Let me introduce myself. I sign my art as "Kasey-chan", so feel free to call me that. My interest in drawing started when my sister and I went down to the book store and we discovered How-To-Draw-Anime books. It took off from there.
When I'm not scribbling away I am pursuing work in theatrical properties, spending way too much time on Netflix, watching too much TV, and wishing radioactive waste really did give people superpowers.

Here's some of my favorite things :).

Anime: Miyazaki's works, Tokyo Godfathers, Astro Boy (2003)
Manga: Rurouni Kenshin and Hana Kimi
American Cartoons: Batman: The Animated Series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Venture Brothers, Gravity Falls, Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated
TV Shows: Merlin (BBC), Firefly, Mystery Science Theater 3000
Movies: The Secret of Kells, The Adventures of Tintin, X-Men: First Class, The Iron Giant, Muppet Treasure Island, Treasure Planet, RoboGeisha, Sharktopus
Books: Pride and Prejudice, Northanger Abbey,Jane Eyre
Colors: Green!
Superheroes: Batman and Spiderman

Art Trades and Requests

I'm pretty much up for anything except yaoi/yuri. PM me .

Wow. Just Wow.

So haven't posted anything here for decades. . . okay maybe it's only been like a month, but that's ages in internet time! So I put up art for the first time since the summer, which felt super special awesome. As I said in the description, I do have 2 prints of it that are just sitting around waiting to be mailed to someone. *wink wink*. So check it out and if it's your thing please PM me :).
So my DC internship is going well, aside from being payed next to nothing. However, I have a free place to stay (which is no lie an act of God because there is no way I could be living in the DC area without this no-rent space). I have discovered that I love froyo, but hate public transportation. Love the idea of it, hate the execution. 'Nuff said.
So how was everyone's Turkey Day? (If you live in the good old U S of A, that is). I hope it was full of thankfulness and deliciousness :).
Well I think I'll see what everyone's been up too and maybe also check out some black Friday sales (cause nothing says "Christmas spirit" like some good old fashioned greed right after the day we're supposed to be thankful for everything).
Enjoy this lovely picture of Spidey and friends celebrating the holiday season!

5 Days!

5 days until I end my job in NJ and start preparing to move to DC, which is both very exciting and intimidating at the same time. I'm anxious to get to a new place, but I wish I had someone I knew there. Even though I don't have rooming/housing quite figured out yet, I hope to eventually live in a group house or something. That way I'd at least get to know some people.
In artsy news, I am about40 pgs in on my comic and, in super special awesome exciting news, I am downloading Manga Studio Debut 4 as I type!!!! I am very excited to get started and also very excited that it was relatively cheap to download on amazon. I hope it's a good program, the reviews seemed positive enough. So you may FINALLY be seeing some arts again! Although I do need my scanner, which is currently in PA, so you won't be seeing anything for at least a week. boooooo.
Yep so that's all that's going on now. Counting down the days until I get to leave NJ. No offense, but there is no way I would ever want to live in this state. Ever. It's the jughandled strip malled armpit of the east coast. Haha in short, I'm not a fan.
I hope to be checking up on you all at some point today and check out the new arts. Perhaps post in Failtastick Fandoms if I get an idea for one. Any suggestions?
In the meantime enjoy this utterly adorable pug

There's Worse Things Than The Devil in Jersey

take jughandles, for example. Why won't you just let me turn left, New Jersey?!? Take me back to Amishville Central Pennsylvannia where things make sense! Sigh. Just two more months and then I get to live in a new state. And I'm not exactly sure which particular one, I'm still working on housing for my fall job. Oh life, y u so bothersome?
In other news I got new Micron Pens, blender pen, lightweight sketching pencil, and "6 Shades of Grey" artist pens (which I'd be posing like a French girl with, but unfortunately I'm short 44 shades). So hopefully if I ever get motivation to write, I can begin this comic. In the meantime I have a bunch of other things to be working on, like the Pay if Forward challenge arts and some art inspired from other challenges.
In the meantime, I got to go on a mini-vacation to DE to see some family, which was quite lovely and relaxing. Going back to work wouldn't have been half as bad if it hadnt been for this oppressive heat that's been plaguing the area for the past couple of days. It's that kind of heat where its hard to breathe sometimes. I'm praying for some serious thunderstorms tonight.
Well it's been a while since i checked up on people, so I'll go do that.
here's ur postly pic :) This is why I like dogs.

Quick Fix

Yeah it's about midnight so I'm not sure what that title means haha oh well. Anyway, haven't updated in a bit, so I thought I'd check out the new fan arts and HOLY CRAP there were SO MANY! Guess I haven't looked at stuff in a while ^.^'. Oh My! I need to check everyone's updates as well.
Enough about how out of touch I am with the world and on to why I am out of touch currently. I have this theater job and it's tech week. For those of you who aren't in theater and have never worked at one during the summer, this means I'm pretty much working around the clock. We have no lives. Only theater. :P So that pretty much takes up all of my time. That and Netflix and looking for housing in DC. Ugh I hate looking for housing.
So I saw Spiderman, and it was good. I'd see a sequel. And there will be one because Sony needs to keep the rights for Spiderman. Not the best superhero movie ever (X-Men First Class still stands as my fav.), but definitely worth the watch if you are into comics.
I'll stop rambling now and see what everyone else is up too.
Hoping to make a post in my other world too, which some people seem to be looking at :).
I want it!

You Know What Sucks?

Getting inspiration from all these challenges and not being able to post any pictures on the site. However, this technological age has not yet inhibited me from picking up a pencil and paper and drawing the good old fashioned way! The plan for now is to draw and stack up the pics and wait until I have enough money to buy photoshop, or get enough gumption to buccaneer a bit online. ARRRRRR! . . . Or I could just use colored pencils.
Also I am currently in the process of writing a script for my new comic, which you may not see for a while, as I plan to do a lot of detail by hand. But hopefully I will at least have a solid script by the end of July. Hopefully. Does anyone have any good names for a manga about a mad scientist and his assistants?
In life terms, my theater tech job in Jersey is going well. I am working at a new company so there are a lot of road bumps but the show will always go up (because it has too). The people also make up for the suck that is a new ambitious theater in today's shotty economy. Everyone is really awesome! I just hope that I'm doing a good job :).
Also Spiderman comes out in a few days, totally seeing the midnight showing of that it at all possible! :)
And here is a picture that made me laugh. So true, I hate this stupid game.
