Trapped

Tsukiro lit the lamp and handed it to Kisuke. Kisuke stopped Tsukiro before he unleashed the flame on Hyourinmaru.

Taking the lamp and looked to Hyourinmaru shocked, "But your ice and snow. Better known as water. If we hit you with a direct blast of extreme heat and or fire, won't you take on damage? Not to mention your master taking on damage."

"Yes I will take damage, but I can also protect my master from the damage. A minute rest in my world will reverse it immediately though." He floated to the center of the room and spread out his wings and connected them to the six cold spots. "You should do it now."

Tsukiro sighed, almost having second thoughts, but this was their only chance. Kisuke raised the lamp and stretched it out as far as he could. Tsukiro pulled out Kotaishi and held it out in the air. It levitated and tapped it, causing it to spin around in a circle in mid air. He caught it by the hilt, the blade facing down, and held it out in front of him, putting his other hand near the sheath.

"Hado 58: Tenran!"

A swirling tornado of wind blew out of his sheathed sword and smashed into the lamp, coming out on the other side as a huge blast of fire. Tsukiro controlled it the best he could with his spirit energy.

Juushiro lost the connection with Kisuke but Sougyo no Kotowari sent a stubborn spark of their own to keep him within his mind long enough to reach the dark wave at the center. Another harsh gust of wind blew him out of his concentration as the barrier began to react to the threat.

Taking a step back, Juushiro drew his blade. Letting his own reiatsu leak out more than usual as a warning beacon to any inching closer towards the barrier, the ice melted from his hands.

"All Waves, Rise now and Become my Shield, Lightning, Strike now and Become my Blade," He called out, voicing the command to push further against the blizzard forming. His zanpakuto glowed and twin sets of laughter echoed out. "Sougyo no Kotowari!" The twin blades formed, joined by the log rope. Juushiro crossed them.

"Bakudo No. 40: Kago no Kyuutai."

The Divine Orb rose from Juushiro's figure encasing the full barrier. He closed his eyes, reaching for the net holding the barrier together. Placing one sword tip to a layer's thread, he called out the ending of the next Kido chant.

"Fire of the sea, breath of the wind, Hado No. 75: Raiden Kai!"

Fire and lightning surged down the Kido net, spreading outwards. A greater arch of lightning built, reaching for the vulnerable shinigami.

Moving his blades in between, Juushiro caught the bolt. His blades hummed as Juushiro pointed the right blade at the top of the barrier where the blizzard seemed thickest.

"Sorry, Hyourinmaru, I don't know how much of this barrier is yourself and how much is your master, but the energy will return to you." He shot the empowered bolt of fire morphed lightning at the top. He hoped that did the trick.

Hyourinmaru didn't even howl in pain as he was hit with the fire and the lightning, but it was apparent on his face. The heated temperatures from both surged through his form and collected at his center. The pressure alone would have destroyed everything.
The pressure pulsated and when enough was built up Hyourinmaru let it erupt. The only things that shattered were those connected to his master: the portal, the barrier, a couple of figures on the bookshelf, and Hyourinmaru himself. The remaining reiatsu from Hyourinmaru and the blizzard caused a spectacular snowfall.

Kisuke stood in the office holding an extinguished oil lamp. The portal gone, the barrier gone. Even Hyourinmaru gone.

“Good job, Hyourinmaru and thanks for the help.”

He walked to the office window seeing Juushiro standing outside still. He smiled adjusting his hat and gave a slight wave. “Thanks for the help, Juushiro. It was greatly needed.”

Juushiro breathed a sigh of relief as the barrier shattered into a snowstorm. Dispelling his own Kido barrier and sheathing his zanpakuto, he walked into the office.

"You're welcome, Kisuke. I'm glad the office remained standing." Another cough seized him.

Tsukiro huffed a sigh of relief and lowered Kotaishi. Thankfully, the office wasn't in too bad of shape. However he felt bad about blasting Hyourinmaru with his natural enemy, so to speak.

"Arigato gozaimasu, Hyourinmaru." He looked to Kisuke and Ukitake. "Well, that went well. Now what?"

Kisuke looked to Tsukiro then back at Juushiro, "I have a nagging feeling that Toshiro and Kita will be found in the Heavenly realm. The question now is--" Kisuke drifted off adjusting his hat. "How do we get there?" He looked between the two of them they looked as lost as he felt.

"Isn't there some way to contact them?"

Just as he asked the question, he remembered about his connection with Sumi. "I can contact Sumi. I can tell her that they need to open the gate for us."

"I doubt Kita could open the gate and if she could. I am sure Toshiro has a barrier around them there as well." He reached into his pocket removing the vile of blood. "Hence the reason we were sent here for this." He held the vile between his index finger and thumb.

"What are we to do with that?" Tsukiro asked, looking at the vile.

"The barrier is a blood let barrier. One drop of Toshiro's blood and the barrier will drop." Kisuke told him sliding the vile back in his pocket for safe keeping.

"Ok, but that still doesn’t explain how we get there." Tsukiro asked again.

Kisuke sighed sitting to the windowsill, "A very good question. That is one gate I have yet to duplicate."

Tsukiro gave him his best ‘I'm going to wring your neck look’. "Well, then what are we doing still standing here?"

Juushiro chuckled. "Tsukiro is right. I think the next step is you doing what you do best, old friend, tinkering with things that aren't your business," He teased lightly.

"Then let’s go. The longer it takes, the more danger Captain and Sumi are in."

Kisuke grinned between them, "Well let’s go then." He swung his legs over the windowsill and stepped out into the snow.

"What a beautiful day in the neighborhood we are having." He held tight to his hat as a gust of wind sweep past.

Following Kisuke, Tsukiro mumbled under his breath, "Who are you? Mister Rodgers?"

Juushiro laughed lightly, brushing snow out of his hair as he followed the two.

Kisuke looked back at Tsukiro with a wicked grin on his face still holding on to his hat.

“Oh no! I am much worse than that. I am the Mad Hatter and the March Hare all rolled into one.”
