Juushiro had learned to follow his instincts long ago and when he felt that telltale shiver down his back, he knew better than to ignore it, even if his feet had just barely led him to the gate of his home barracks. Halting, the white-haired captain closed his eyes and searched his surroundings. Nearby, the signatures of his 3rd seats' reiatsu flickered, still at their desks and buried in paperwork. Rukia's flickered from the mess hall, along with Kairo's, who seemed much more rested than before. Freeing his mind, Juushiro let his mental sight roam further.
Something snagged him, and the premonition doubled. Instantaneously, his mental defenses rose up to protect him. Juushiro lowered them. Ignoring the darkness that had settled and grown in the background, the captain reached out once more.
The harsh winter wind almost pushed Juushiro back into reality, pummeling him in a brutal whiplash of power. Juushiro clung on for another moment, pulling a signature away from the complex spell work in front of him.
Toshiro Hitsugaya.
And out of the blue, an electric bolt struck at the captain's mind.
Back in the present, Juushiro's eyes narrowed. Swallowing back the light cough that wanted to be let loose, he stepped into a swift shunpo, heading towards the pinnacle of coldness in his mind.
The ice barrier had completely covered the building with its captain's office and a frigid breeze blew around it. A few squad members were watching it warily from a distance. The cold wind was its own defense. A couple were wearing their winter cloaks. Shunsui would have whistled. Juushiro nodded in respect.
Knowing a basic heating Kido would do little with this level of barrier, Juushiro continued forward. Soon a light frost settled in his hair and covered his hands. In another few steps he would be at the forbidding wall. Blinking snowflakes out of his eyes, Juushiro set a hand on the wall of ice.
Another jolt sparked through him. His eyes narrowed further. The spark shouldn't have been there. Toshiro was not of the storm elements.
