Trapped

Kisuke searched the room walking around checking out every little element that may be involved slightly or directly with the barrier. He rested his hand to one wall, and stood erect. He looked to Tsukiro then tried to look out the window in the office. Nothing but ice and snow swirled around out there.

"Juushiro!?" Kisuke said to himself shaking his head. He stood closing his eyes and concentrated on Juushiro picking up on his energy rather quickly. "Hey? You hear me?"

Feeling another tug on his mind, Juushiro closed his eyes, easily falling back into his mental landscape. Although the chill of the barrier permeated even here, daring him to take another step closer, it was fractionally warmer. Something brushed against his mind again but the wind swirling around him pushed it back, denying it entry, demanding his surrender. Juushiro's concentrated harder. This time when the reiatsu dashed into his mind, he latched onto it. Kisuke Urahara! Setting a hand on his zanpakuto to increase his hold on the mental realm, he sent a reply back.

"I hear you." He winced as a stinging spark chased him even there. "What is going on? The barrier is behaving strangely from my end."

Kisuke held tight to the connection he had with Juushiro. It seemed things were a little calmer inside the barrier than they were out there with Juushiro. "I am not sure, if you want to know the truth. However, I think the portal Toshiro had us open and the barrier that's over the office is colliding."

Kisuke paused as he got a tingle up his spin. He turned to see the portal expanding and the lightening that swirled inside it was now extending out of it. "We need to get this barrier down before the portal becomes any more unstable."

Juushiro winced. "You know how difficult that's going to be, don't you? How sure are you that that is what's causing this?"

"Yes I do and I am very sure of it. The portal was created by Hitsugaya's energy so only he could pass through it. My logic on this is the spiritual powers from where they are are stronger than his own. Then you have the spiritual power in the Soul Society itself. It is collapsing the portal, but the energy of the barrier around the portal is Hitsugaya's as well so it feeds the portal causing the twist of energies to make the weaker of the three highly unstable."

Kisuke hoped that made sense to Juushiro because right at that moment as he looked into the ever growing portal, he was slightly panicked.

As much as Juushiro wanted to deny it, Kisuke's explanation made sense. Juushiro's brow furrowed as he reached into the barrier, feeling its strength and the layers of sheer power from Hyourinmaru wrapped around the initial Kido spark. A particular shrill blast of wind buffered him. Pushing back with his own reiatsu and coughing lightly, he sent a reply back to Kisuke.

"I understand. Are you able to use any Kido or your zanpakuto in there?"

"I have Benihime here if needed. If I have calculated the barrier over the office correctly its energy sources are six extremely cold spots along the ground. If we can get them heated up simultaneously I think we can get the barrier down. The portal hopefully will stabilize and close on its own. If not. Hitsugaya’s office may no longer be standing.”

Kisuke adjusted his hat looking around the room once more. "But what to use and how to do it?" He was questioning himself more than Juushiro.

"If you can connect them simultaneously in some way on your side... " Juushiro drew his zanpakuto, calming the irate spirits who wanted to fight back against the barrier freezing their kind master with a gentle stroke along the blade connecting theirs souls, and continued, "I will use Kido and Sougyo no Kotowari to weaken the multiple layers on this side," he finished, starting to coughing. He nearly lost the connection. "Benihime can help if things get destructive," He called out as Sougyo no Kotowari warmed, adding more of their power to keep it going.

Kisuke looked around the room for something that might help them out in doing just what he needed. He looked to Tsukiro. "We need something to penetrate these cold spots. Something that will get hot and stay hot." His eyes darted around the room. "Something metal would work best."

Tsukiro stood up and looked around the room, looking for something that would generate enough heat. Just as he was thinking to himself, "Yeah right, heat in Toshiro Hitsugaya's office?" He opened a closet door to find an oil lamp stored away. Smiling, he got an idea.

Grabbing the lamp, he rushed over to the barrier next to Kisuke. Tsukiro cracked open the glass cover surrounding the wick. "I'm going to light the wick then use Kido to blow the fire like a flame thrower. Kisuke, I'm going to need you to hold the lamp out and keep it steady while I do it."

Kisuke took the oil lamp and looked at Tsukiro, "I hope you know what you're doing. I don't want to have to fight a fire and an unstable portal at the same time." Kisuke looked around the office, "Where is Hyourinmaru?"

In saying that, Hyourinmaru came from the other side of the desk. "I can connect to the barriers that way you only have to focus on one spot rather than six," Hyourinmaru stated as he now floated above Kisuke's shoulder. "The electricity that is in me from the barrier should give you that extra shove to melt my ice."

"Okay then," Tsukiro said. "I'm ready when everyone else is."
