~Candy~

“My lady, is Snow babysitting the little girl really necessary?” Talon asked.

“Excuse me!” I spoke up. “Maybe he wouldn’t have to if you wouldn’t have abandoned me.” It just sort of tumbled out of my mouth and I immediately regretted it. Talon was in front of me in a flash, lifting my chin up and looking me dead in the eye.

“Careful. You don’t want to make an enemy out of me.” He smirked. I felt myself start shaking under his intense gaze. Snow put a hand on his shoulder.

“That’s enough.” He said seriously. Talon let me go and turned sharply. Striding out of the room.

“Don’t worry too much Miss. He and Snow are very close.” The one called Light said with a soft smile.

“Alright.” I said quietly.

“Come on Candy, I’ll show you around.” Snow motioned for me to follow and I did. I thought I saw something quickly run down the hallways as we stepped out.

“That was Vic. He’s incredibly skittish, you probably won’t see him for a few months.” Snow explained.

“Wow…I thought I was shy…” I said. Snow chuckled and I turned my head to find him just an inch from my nose. I jumped away and he laughed lightly.

“You are so interesting.” He started walking to the right and turned down another hallway. I followed and looked around. There wasn’t a whole lot of decoration, but the stone the walls were made of was very pretty, and there were a lot of windows. Snow stopped in front of one of the doors. “This is a room for guests. So it can be yours if you need it.” He opened it up for me. My jaw dropped.

“A big four poster bed with a canopy?! Dresser and vanity? No way…” I bounded over to a door and opened it. “A full bathroom with separate shower and tub!” Then went to another door. “And a walk in closet…”

“That’s not all.” I turned and Snow opened up a set of French doors. Outside was a balcony, with a small bench and a few plants.

“This is so amazing…” I dreamily looked out over the rail. It overlooked a garden with a fountain as well as a pool to the right with a small waterfall feature.

“Do you like it?” Snow asked. I turned and smiled.

“I do, it’s beautiful.” He blinked a few times and smiled back a little.

“Want to see more?” He asked. I nodded. “What would you like to see?” He asked. I thought for a moment before I decided.

“Where is your room Snow?” He looked a little surprised but then he brightened up.

“I’ll show you, it’s just down the hall actually.” I followed him a few rooms down and he opened it up. It was darker than my room, but it was very cozy.

“I mean, in case I needed you for something important, like Talon clawing my eyes out.” I laughed nervously.

“Just because he’s a hawk doesn’t mean he will do that.” Snow laughed. “I won’t let him. Oh, I’ll show you the kitchen, and the dining room, and a bunch of other stuff too…” He took my wrist again and yanked, causing me to fall straight to my face with a short yelp. “I’m so sorry, really I am! Was it because I was going too fast?” He got down on his knees and I carefully got up onto mine. My nose hurt a little but I was used to it. I was also pretty clumsy, if I do say so myself.

“I’m sorry, I just have, short legs.” I said with a small chuckle. Snow put both of his hands on my cheeks and directed my line of sight to his face.

“Tell me to slow down, ok? You almost got hurt because of me.” He looked extremely concerned, and very worried. I couldn’t help but stare. His hands were warm, but getting cooler rather quick. I realized I was blushing like crazy. He let go quickly and put his hands on his own cheeks and swayed a little. “Oh no are you getting sick? What do I do? I don’t know how to take care of a sick human!” I blinked and then burst out laughing. He tipped his head again and his ears twitched. “W-What is it? I’m confused…”

“I’m fine, really. I’m ok.” I slowly got up and extended my hand to him. He looked at it and then took it and stood up limberly on his own.

“If you aren’t, let me know. I’m looking after you ok?” He said. I nodded.

“Thank you Snow.” I smiled a little. We spent the rest of the afternoon wandering the castle and I started to learn a little bit of the layout, and I really started to relax. Snow was a nice guy, but something about him seemed like he was worried about something. I didn’t ask about it though. I glanced at the watch that I forgot was on my wrist and my eyes widened. “It’s 9! I-I need to go…”

“Go? But, why?” Snow asked.

“Because I have to go back to my world, but, how do I get back?” I asked and started to panic a little. Snow pulled me into a hug and shushed me.

“Shh, calm yourself, we will go ask Goddess Amora.”

“A-Alright…” I stuttered and relaxed. He smelled like, well, like a guy. But more specifically like right after the snow melts in the spring, if that makes any sense. He let me go and nodded. I smiled. “It’s down this hall and to the left right?”

“Correct, you pick up on things quickly.” He said.

“Let’s race.” I offered.

“You’re, sure?” He retorted. I responded by taking off down the hall. Unfortunately, Snow passed me within a few strides so I ran harder and turned the corner, slamming into something. We both slammed into the floor.

“I’m, I’m so sorry, please forgive me! Are you, ok?” I asked as I held my head and my vision started to come back into focus. Snow stopped and jogged back. I saw a man I hadn’t seen yet in front of me, with longish ears and a long, flowing, horses tail? This must be Vic.

“I’m fi-” He looked at me and froze.

“Are you sure? I just-” I reached for him and he flinched and raised his hand and started to swing at me. I shut my eyes and braced for impact but nothing came.

“Vic, we don’t hit ladies. That’s rude. She was just trying to help. Now you should apologize to her.” I heard snow say softly but firmly. I opened my eyes and saw Snow had a hold of Vic’s raised wrist. He let go and I shrunk back.

“Sorry…” He whispered.

“No, I’m sorry. As long as you’re alright, its ok.” I said quietly and I slowly stood up. Vic shook his head a little and wouldn’t make eye contact. I held out my hand cautiously toward him and he looked at it for a minute, and then very slowly took it and I helped him up. “Maybe, I’ll see you next time?” I smiled sweetly. Vic nodded and then scurried off. “T-The Goddess, come on, lets go…” I walked fast to her office and Snow followed behind, almost surprised. I went into the room and saw her sitting and smiling.

“You open up the face of the watch and hit the button, then select ok.” She answered before I could ask. I nodded.

“I’ll be waiting here Candy.” Snow said. I turned and smiled.

“See you soon.” I said and hit the button, and then hit ok. My vision faded slowly, until all I saw was black once more.
