Alistair to Alexander
Last post tonight! I swear! 
Alistair, my ancient OC, is renamed Alexander! Here is a comparison between the the 2026 comic version and his black and gold design from 2010:
Now wearing parade armor, you may not be able to see with the helmet on, but he still has his iconic long black hair.
Alexander is 23yo, which may or may not be the same age that Alistair was in my original comic. The aristocratic asshole hasn't changed much since my high school days. Still goth. Still overly protective and creepily obsessed with Natalya. Antonia is still disgusted by him.
So whats his story?
Sir Alexander is of course Natalya's body guard and a knight of Perovskia. He is the empire's top swordsman, but he is outclassed by Valon's own sword master Yzer. Yzer's star pupil, Zanub (another ancient OC), is equally matched with Alexander. Yzer's other pupil, prince Harmund, is lazy and refuses to practice. Alexander already despises Valon's prince, who is betrothed to Natalya, so Harmund's lack of discipline is just one more reason for Alexander to hate him.
There are very few people that Alexander can tolerate. He appreciates Ludmir's practical nature, and he considers Ilarion very dependable and honest. Alexander considers these two people his closest friends. He mistreats his squire, Nikifor, but sees his potential. Despite the physical and verbal abuse of the boy, Alexander specifically selected Nikifor as his squire for his fiery personality.
Nikifor and Lachlan/Ludmir's Redesign
I wanna compare the old designs of these guys from around 2010 with the artwork from 2026.
Nikifor has always been a douche but now his outfit is inspired by skinheads. Fitted button shirt, cuffed pants, eyelet boots, etc. As Alexander's squire, he is pushed extremely hard by Alexander to the point of being physically abused.
Nikifor bullies others into submission as an outlet for his pent up aggression towards Alexander. In this new comic panel, he tries to push Ludmir around for not showing more humility in front of Natalya. Ludmir is unbothered.
Ludmir is less outgoing than his previous incarnation, Lachlan. He's been given a more traditional Slavic outfit instead of a kilt, with a shorter hairstyle. He is no longer a knight, now strictly the court painter. Also a commoner and a life long friend of Ilarion.
I said in the previous post that Lachlan was a stealth crossdresser. Ludmir is a trans man. He will not have a side romance with Elodie, since Elodie's newest incarnation is just a doll.
His political point of view is like Ilya Repin but more radically anti-imperialist. In a way, Ludmir becomes an antagonist to the Imperial family though not a villain. He supports the people, not the ruling class. He hides his true intentions from Ilarion who is a man loyal to the Imperial family. Their opposing politics will definitely cause issues for their friendship in the future.

There are some new characters and the return of my oldest OCs! Some key characters have been renamed to better suit the fictional Imperial Russia vibe.

Here is the current cast of central characters:
⦁ Natalya - 13yo Grand Duchess of Perovskia. She is a spoiled brat that loves dolls but is incredibly sheltered. Once she learns how wide the world is, she cannot be contained!
⦁ Alexander - Natalya's personal knight and most loyal servant. He is also Perovskia's best swordsman and a pompous aristocratic asshole.
⦁ Ilarion - A kind palace guard that dutifully stands watch over Natalya's bedroom door. He and Ludmir's families are commoners and they are life-long friends.
⦁ Ludmir - Natalya's court painter and a secret anti-imperialist. In the original comic, he was a stealth crossdresser, but now a trans man.
⦁ Mikula - Natalya's father and emperor of Perovskia. Good-natured but ignorant of the suffering of the citizens.
⦁ Antonia - Natalya's maid. No one except Mikula is allowed to be alone with Natalya in her chambers without Antonia in the room.
⦁ Harmund - NEW CHARACTER!!! Natalya's betrothed! Harmund is the crown prince of a much smaller country called Valon. He is smug, lazy and self-centered, which is unsurprising for the incredibly rich prince. Alexander hates his damn guts!
⦁ Elodie - A magic wind-up doll gifted by Prince Harmund to Natalya as a betrothal gift. She comes to life and shows the Grand Duchess the world beyond the palace walls. Elodie is Natalya's new favorite doll, but is actually an anti-imperialist weapon.
⦁ Nikifor - Alexander's squire and his punching bag. To vent his frustrations about being mistreated by Alexander, Nikifor bullies others.
⦁ Yzer - NEW CHARACTER!!! A master swordsman, Prince Harmund's 40yo personal guard and also his sword fighting instructor. His swordsmanship greatly surpasses Alexander's! His loyalty is tied to his paycheck.
The relevant countries are...
⦁ Perovskia is a cold, expansive country with a low population for its size. Its mostly covered in primordial woodland known as the Ektenial Borea. Perovskia's state religion in the old comic was literally just Orthodox Christianity. Perovskia 2.0 now worships a mythical creature known as the Firebird, which is also the symbol of the empire. The Imperial Family was established centuries ago when Natalya's ancestor obtained a golden feather from the Firebird. Perovskia's currency is called "Plata", with the Firebird depicted on one side and a profile of the Emperor's face on the other.
⦁ Valon is a very small but extremely wealthy peninsular country. The country is essentially one big trading port, which is how they have become such a rich kingdom. The ruling family is determined by whatever family has the most wealth. "Sequins" are what they call their currency, which has a pentacle on one side of the coin and a crown on the other. The state religion is the Church of the Pentacle, inspired by the Tarot card suit which represents wealth.

I am drawing a new Natalya comic. The original Petite Affairs of Natalya, was a comedy shojo inspired by Alice in Wonderland set in a satirical fictionalized Imperial Russia. I made that comic in high school.
