KyraChan's Top 50 Countdown

30 - 21

30. Daily Lives of High School Boys OP - "Shiny Tale"

x

If you listened to this song without knowing anything about the anime or the lyrics, you might think it's the opening for some dramatic shounen anime.

...That's the joke.

The animation and the lyrics give away the awesomely stupid nature of this anime. It shows perfectly how the boys want to think they have a dramatic life, but in reality, it's hilariously average. Besides, with the line "When I turn around and see your stupid laughing face, it gives me the strength to go on forever," how could you not love this opening?

29. Anohana OP - "Aoi Shiori"

x

I think this song is the sound of looking back on childhood. It has the happiness and energy of childhood, as well as the sorrow and deep emotion of its nostalgia. The beautiful and gentle visuals also represent this. Honestly, I can't listen to this song too long without thinking of the anime and crying.

28. Ping Pong OP - "Tadahitori"

x

This opening, like the show, is wild, unrestrained, and completely incredible. It utilizes the striking and unique animation that the show has to the most of its ability to give it a great amount of energy that most other openings can't achieve.

27. Log Horizon ED 1 - "Your Song"

x

I'm usually not a fan of cute things, but this ending has just the right amount of cuteness blended into the pop music that it makes a great ending. Not to mention the beautiful animation sequence. Nothing beats the feeling you get when you reach the end and Shiroe's smiling down at Akatsuki. It greatly shows the feelings of being in love with your best friend.

26. Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo ED - "You Won't See Me Coming"

x

You know, I used to not like this ending. However, as the song grew on me, so did the ending. I ended up loving it all - the heavily layered and detalied visuals, the energetic song, and the almost frantic feeling it gives off. The only regret is that it doesn't have my favorite part of the song in it. *sings loudly* E-D-M-O-N-D THAT'S MY NAME.... *ahem* And so, my love of has eventually turned it into one of my favorites.

Now we're getting into openings and endings I really, really love.

25. Tokyo Ghoul OP - "Unravel"

x

I mentioned previously that I loved the Tokyo Ghoul ending so much that I made a wallpaper after it - well, I made two wallpapers based off of the opening. I truly love this opening. The animation is absolutely beautiful, the music is incredible, and the lyrics... it's almost indescribable.

24. Owari no Seraph OP - "X.U."

x

I've realized these past couple weeks that when it comes to popular anime, I usually have the unpopular opinion. Attack on Titan was huge when it came out two years ago, yet I wasn't really a fan of it. Now Owari no Seraph, by the same studio, has been criticized for many different reasons, yet I find it to be the superior anime. This incredible opening is only one of the many reasons why I love it - the transition it makes from emotional and haunting to action-filled is amazing, and the lyrics always send chills down my spine. Plus, it's in English, which means I can easily sing along with it, which is always a bonus.

23. The World God Only Knows OP 1 - "God Only Knows"

x

Speaking of openings that are in English, that also applies to this opening and because of that, you couldn't ever find me listening to this song with singing along to the entire thing. The song is amazing and catchy and can get stuck in my head for hours. That's not even mentioning its amazing visuals. Add in the electronic vibe it gives off, and you get the cherry on top of this wonderful sundae of an opening.

22. Naruto Shippuden OP 1 - "Hero's Come Back"

x

I'm certain there are plenty of other great Naruto opening out there, but I've never really payed much attention to them (I usually skip them). I have, however, payed attention to this one, considering that the first arc of Naruto is one of the few anime DVDs I've ever actually owned. Ever since watching it, I've fallen in love with this opening, especially the song. This opening holds a special part in my heart, and it probably will for many years to come.

21. Danganronpa OP - "Never Say Never"

x

Let me tell you something - I love all the anime I've seen that have been done by studio Lerche and director Kishi, and this anime was the first by them I saw. One of the many things that pulled me in was its opening. I'm certain I've listened to the full song so much I have it memorized, and the animation is nothing to scoff at, either. Honestly, looking at this opening again, I'm not surprised that this combo has created so many other anime that I've come to love.
