F&H Chapter 3- Detention?

Rukia, assuming he was muggle-born, explained the game in the most simplistic way she knew. "Your team flies on broom sticks, scores points with a ball called a quaffle, attempts to catch a smaller ball called a snitch, and throws yet another ball called a bludger at the opponent to knock them out of the air."

The game began to loose it's appeal to Syaoran when she mentioned the bludgers, but then he thought of something. "Why do they allow first years to play now?"

"It's because there's a new snitch," a voice came from behind them.

"Yusuke! How are you?" Ino asked the boy politely.

"I'm okay." Yusuke answered. "And who's this newbee?"

"Syaoran," Rukia answered cheerfully.

"Nice to meet you," Yusuke said. "I'm a second year like them, but I'm not trying out for the team."

"Why's that?" Syaoran asked curiously.

"The teachers at this school really dumbed the game down, now that first years are allowed to play. Where is the challenge in chasing after a snitch with only one wing?"

Syaoran was puzzeled. His ears had locked onto a key word:wing. Could it possibly have anything to do with Sakura's feathers? Speaking of Sakura, he wondered how she was doing. It was so irritating, not being able to see her. Syaoran ended his conversation and stepped through the passageway closed off by the portrait of the fat lady. His four new friends watched him leave with interest.

"Wandering the corridors on your first night, are we?" The portrait asked unapprovingly. "Risk takers, the lot of them. First years are all the same!"

Syaoran lightly stepped away from the door and headed for the Great Hall. The silence was erie as he hurried to the fifth door on the left. At the end of the corridor, he was met by three staircases. Right is always right, Syaoran reasoned, and decided to take the third staircase up. When he reached the top, he heard two voices coming from the second door on his right. Carefully, hoping his friends were inside, he turned the handle and pushed the door open.
