Tamagotchi's 30th is split in two - the Premium Bandai devices you can only get on resale, and the s

Tamagotchi turns 30 on 23 November 2026 and Bandai has been running the anniversary year since last November, but if you only follow the English-language coverage you would think it was two or three items. It is closer to a dozen, and nearly all of it is Japan-only, so I went through the whole list with the marketplaces open. The useful thing to know up front is that the line is split cleanly in two.

Half one: the collector devices, small runs, resale only

The anniversary device is the Tamagotchi nano colorful "Mametchi Memories" in 30th Yellow and 30th Blue - a colour-screen nano built around Mametchi as he looked in each generation, sold only through Premium Bandai at 6,600 yen for ages 15 and up. The reservation window has closed, so it is a resale item now: a sealed 30th Yellow on Mercari was 7,700 yen ($53.13) when I read it today (20 September). That is a modest markup for a closed-window Premium Bandai release.

The second device is the one to buy at retail: the Original Tamagotchi 30th Anniversary "Tama Space" - the classic egg with the Gen 1 program (feed, clean, discipline, the mini-games) in a limited anniversary art shell with a ball chain, 3,080 yen list, released 19 September 2026. Rakuten toy shops took it below list; the listing I checked was 2,830 yen ($19.53). If you missed Mametchi Memories, this is the consolation, and it is the cheaper of the two by a wide margin.

Half two: the candy toys, sold everywhere in Japan, bought by the box

- Celebration! Tamagotchi 30th Chara-Magnets (Bandai Candy, 18 May): 15 acrylic glitter magnets at 297 yen a pack with soda gum. The designs are the devices themselves - the 1996 white and pink originals, the Plus generations, iD L, P's, 4U, m!x, Uni, Paradise and the 30th logo - which is why people buy the sealed 14-pack box rather than singles: 3,480 yen ($24.01) on Rakuten today.
- Tamagotchi Collectibles 30th Anniversary Vol. 1 (11 July): six figures (Mametchi, Pochitchi, Flowertchi, Kuromametchi, Lovelitchi, Melodytchi) in a charm case that doubles as a holder for an Original Tamagotchi, 880 yen each. A complete set of six from a Rakuten shop was 3,960 yen ($27.32) - basically six times list, no blind-box tax.

The exhibition goods, which are cheaper than you would guess

The Great Tamagotchi Exhibition (Roppongi in January, Nagoya PARCO in March) and the permanent Tamagotchi Factory store in Harajuku sold venue-only mascots, miniature charm capsules, acrylic cards, masking tape and clear files, none of it online. Mercari is the only route, and because attendance was high the prices are flat: the venue-limited Mametchi mascot was 1,700 yen ($11.73) (nearly unused, never attached to anything per the seller), and an unused 30th miniature charm from the capsule series was 599 yen ($4.13). That is the opposite of the Premium Bandai side - open window, plenty of supply, resale at roughly the venue price.

Search terms

たまごっち 30th or たまごっち 30周年 for everything; まめっちメモリーズ for the Premium Bandai device; 大たまごっち展 for the exhibition goods (that phrase is on every venue-only listing). "Tamagotchi 30th" in English mostly returns the export-priced relistings.

The full write-up - the anniversary timeline from the Factory store opening to 23 November, every official item with list price, the pop-up store cities and the shipping maths for a device plus a sealed box - is here: Tamagotchi 30th Anniversary (2026): every official item with live prices from Japan

The live search I used for the prices above: たまごっち 30th listings right now - usual disclosure, that goes through the forwarding service I buy with, so treat it as a price reference rather than a recommendation.

Anyone here got Mametchi Memories at the Premium Bandai price? I am curious whether the Blue is holding above list the way the Yellow is.

Detective Conan has two different 30th anniversaries and the goods do not say which one they are - w

Quick one for the Conan collectors here, because it cost me an evening of confusion. Detective Conan is running its second 30th anniversary in three years, and Japanese listings for the two are mixed together in the same searches. The manga started serialising in Shonen Sunday in January 1994, so 2024 was 連載30周年 (serialisation 30th) - that was the big Conan exhibition with the manga-themed goods. The TV anime first aired on 8 January 1996, so 2026 is 放送30周年 (broadcast 30th) - a second, anime-production-themed exhibition that opened at Tokyo Dome City in February and tours twelve Japanese venues into 2027, plus a Weiß Schwarz Blau card set, a Japan Mint coin set and Sega prize goods with a "TV 30th" logo. Two exhibitions, two logos, two sets of acrylic stands, and a seller who just writes "30周年" could mean either.

How to tell them apart

The 2026 line uses the words TVアニメ or 放送 in front of 30周年, and the logo says "TV ANIME 30th". The 2024 line uses 連載, and the goods reference the manga art. If the listing only says 30周年記念版 on a book, that is the manga side: Shogakukan's 30th Anniversary Edition of volume 1 is a 2024 item, even though anime fans want it too.

What the 2026 items are actually selling for

All of these are listings I read this morning (19 September) on the Japanese marketplaces through the forwarder I use, so they are today's numbers, not press-release numbers:

- Weiß Schwarz Blau Premium Pack - TV Anime 30th Anniversary, sealed 8-pack box, Amazon Japan: 5,280 yen ($36.43). The box MSRP is 4,400 yen, so Amazon is above list; earlier this week the same sealed box was listed under list price on Yahoo Flea Market (per the linked write-up, dated 17 September), which makes this the one item worth checking on two marketplaces before you buy.
- 30th exhibition lenticular acrylic stand, Conan Edogawa, unopened: 1,111 yen ($7.67) (venue price was 990 yen for the random lenticular stands, so barely any markup).
- 30th exhibition acrylic stand, second-hand, seller-graded rank B: 2,640 yen ($18.22) against a 1,650 yen venue price - the used one is dearer than the sealed lenticular, which tells you which design people wanted.
- TV 30th Anniversary eco bag, unused in its packaging: 1,800 yen ($12.42).
- Anime 30th scene-still trading can badge (the 警視庁1200万人の人質 set, one random character), unopened: 1,199 yen ($8.27).

And the crossover item from the other 30th, for comparison:

- Manga 30th Anniversary Edition vol. 1, first printing, still shrink-wrapped: 2,500 yen ($17.25).

What surprised me is how flat the exhibition-goods market is. The venue sells at retail with a two-per-item limit and the tour keeps restocking, so resale sits within a few hundred yen of the shop price. The items that actually appreciate are the ones with a closed window - the Japan Mint coin sets (lottery applications closed in June) and the serial-numbered cards inside the Weiß Schwarz Blau boxes. Watch for coin-set listings that are only the leaflet (チラシ / リーフレット) at 300-500 yen; they are not the set.

Search terms that work

名探偵コナン 放送30周年 or 名探偵コナン TV30th for the 2026 anime items; 名探偵コナン 連載30周年 for the 2024 manga exhibition; ヴァイスシュヴァルツブラウ コナン for the card boxes. English "Conan 30th" pulls up mostly the export-priced listings.

Anyone here going to one of the tour stops (Sapporo, Sendai, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka...)? I would like to know whether the venue-exclusive stands differ between cities or it is the same 31 designs everywhere.
