I never researched the meaning or possible meaning, but I named a character "Jin" and then tried to add more 'Japanese sounding' articles, and I ended up naming him "Jinakei," but pronouncing the "J" like in Spanish.

I don't even want to know what monstrosity that could have been.

Ah, I get it. Yeah, I've had a similar issue with naming characters like that in the past.

For example, for most of the main cast, the target language was Japanese, so I just came up with random names that sounded Japanese at first -- like Shiri, which means..."butt". -//_//-'

What were the target languages?
And what do the names mean?

Haha, yeah. I wasn't going to change the main group initially; but I don't want the names to sound ignorant, and I did just come up with them off the top of my head. So, I figured that this rewrite is a good opportunity to make the change.

I'm surprised you're changing the names of some of your main characters. What's your reasoning behind that?
