This is a WORLD full of resources dedicated to the aspiring artists of theOtaku of all kinds. The term 'artist' is not limited to the categories on theOtaku. Art can range from sculptures, photography, writing, film, graphic art, and much more! We will have a collection of various tutorials and references to offer that will help you improve and learn new skills in whatever you specialize. However, in order to improve, one must also receive feedback on their work. The members of the Creative Community will be available to provide critiques and aid you on your journey as an artist.

Along with the goal of assisting other artists, this is, after all, a community, and we would like to also make this a place where you can meet new people that share your same interests. This is a friendly haven that will hopefully bring together the many members of theO.

If you wish to join this community, please subscribe so you can receive notification on when new things are posted and fill out an application. Members who have subscribed and sent in an application will be given the Guest Poster privilege, and will be able to ask for critiques on their work. To maintain Guest Poster privilege, please provide critiques to other users so everyone can benefit.

This site is designed to run without a lot of supervision. Features such as critiques and corrections depend on the activity of members. Administrators have the responsibility of coming up with events and updating the website every now and then. So please act appropriately and stay friendly.

June - Writing Monthly Challenge: Writing Assessment

Today marks the beginning of the Creative Community challenges! Please view the Event History post for June 2014 to see what other challenges are planned for this month. Monthly challenges begin on the first day of that month and end on the last day of that month. Please dedicate your challenge entries to CreativeCommunity so we can see your artwork.

Type of Event: Monthly Challenge
Supervisor: WyvernWings
Introduction: Submit one writing piece every week for assessment. I would like you to submit a piece immediately so I can track your progress and offer critiques, comments, etc.
Instructions: Please submit one new piece every week. The challenge is for each piece to be in different type of writing. For example, the first week you may submit a poem, the second week you may submit a short story, the third week you may submit a short scene, and the fourth week you may submit a chapter of a novel. That is one example. Another way to do this would be to write in four different genres, or four different types of poetry, though I would prefer you intermingle prose and poetry. For poetry, the minimum is 14 lines, and for prose, the minimum is one page double-spaced.

June - Art Monthly Challenge: Applying Elements and Principles

Today marks the beginning of the Creative Community challenges! Please view the Event History post for June 2014 to see what other challenges are planned for this month. Monthly challenges begin on the first day of that month and end on the last day of that month. Please dedicate your challenge entries to CreativeCommunity so we can see your artwork.

Type of Event: Monthly Challenge
Supervisor: FUNimation
Introduction: After learning about the Elements and Principles of design, apply these Elements and Principles to a piece of artwork.
Instructions: Come up with a composition that utilizes at least two elements. Several different principles can be displayed through the use of few elements. Demonstrate your knowledge of design through your artwork. Try coming up with at least three different sketches to help with your composition. Being able to organize the layout of your artwork can help you set up focal points and subjects of interest. Don't worry about value or color until you have established the foundation of your piece. You may use whatever medium you feel comfortable with.

Please ask if you have any questions!

Welcome to the Creative Community!

Hello everyone!

Today marks the launch of the Creative Community! Please feel free to look around and explore the Community. We provide several features and resources that are dedicated to improving the skills of artists.

We want to also re-establish the friendly community of theOtaku. Through the Creative Community, we want to help encourage learning and growing of artists. To accomplish that, we plan on holding events called "Comment Days" and "Introduce Yourself!" to have members reach out to members of theOtaku and comment on their things. We want to maintain a friendly and encouraging community throughout the website.

The Creative Community is designed to be successful without frequent Admin or member activity; however, features such as Critiques and Jobs and certain events rely on member activity. In order for the Creative Community to utilize its features to the best of its ability, we ask that you check in during your free time.

We ask that you look through and familiarize yourself with our features through our About Us page, and we hope that you consider joining! Whether or not you decide to join, we ask that you please provide any suggestions for our artist Resources. Though there are features exclusively for members, there are plenty of features that are open to non-members as well. We want the Creative Community to be beneficial to as many people as possible.

If you wish to take an administrative position with the Creative Community, please fill out a new member application and indicate that you are interested in being an Admin. In doing so, you'll gain access to the Creative Backroom.

This first week after launch shall be used as a time to let members settle in and spread the word. It will also be used to set up examples for certain posts to help guide members. Please use this time to ask any questions or provide any suggestions. Events will not begin until June 1.

Thank you for viewing our website! Please feel free to use this post to ask questions, and please spread the word about the Creative Community with your friends.
