This is a WORLD full of resources dedicated to the aspiring artists of theOtaku of all kinds. The term 'artist' is not limited to the categories on theOtaku. Art can range from sculptures, photography, writing, film, graphic art, and much more! We will have a collection of various tutorials and references to offer that will help you improve and learn new skills in whatever you specialize. However, in order to improve, one must also receive feedback on their work. The members of the Creative Community will be available to provide critiques and aid you on your journey as an artist.

Along with the goal of assisting other artists, this is, after all, a community, and we would like to also make this a place where you can meet new people that share your same interests. This is a friendly haven that will hopefully bring together the many members of theO.

If you wish to join this community, please subscribe so you can receive notification on when new things are posted and fill out an application. Members who have subscribed and sent in an application will be given the Guest Poster privilege, and will be able to ask for critiques on their work. To maintain Guest Poster privilege, please provide critiques to other users so everyone can benefit.

This site is designed to run without a lot of supervision. Features such as critiques and corrections depend on the activity of members. Administrators have the responsibility of coming up with events and updating the website every now and then. So please act appropriately and stay friendly.

August - Art Monthly Challenge - Design a Candy Character

Type of Event: Monthly Challenge
Introduction: Using candy as inspiration, create an original candy character.
Instructions: There are several different candies in the world, all with their own flavors and textures. Using your creative eye, first study a wide arrangement of candy. Analyze how lighting and texture differentiate the different surfaces of candy. This will help you create a realistic candy character. You may incorporate candy into your character any way possible. The candy could just be their clothes, or the character itself can be made of candy. Get creative. I will provide resources for inspiration, but I would advise to not look at them for long. Often when artists look at something to get ideas, the image that they have studied will become stuck in their brains, and it'll limit their creative thinking. Do not let yourself become stuck on one concept. Experiment and have fun. Don't forget to name your character.

Type of Event: Weekly Challenge
Introduction: Rewrite a classic fairy tale
Instructions: Using a classic fairy tale, rewrite it into your own original version. Consider Disney movies. Though they are based off of different fairy tales, when compared to the originals, they are vastly different. Don't be afraid to stray from the most popular tales. All cultures have their own unique and magical stories.

July 28 - Character Generator - Weekly Challenge - Art

Type of Event: Weekly Challenge
Introduction: Choose a character generator and create a character based on your results. Be sure to describe the character you got.
Instructions: Using whichever character generator you wish to create an original character. We've listed a few resources for you, but feel free to use your own. Just be sure to link back to the original generator you used.

Challenge: Create backstory for your character. The personality and experiences of a character can heavily influence their design. Whenever you're designing a character, consider what kind of person they are and have their character shine through their design.

July 21 - Describing Color - Weekly Challenge - Writing

All writing entries must be Times New Roman, size 12, double-spaced if submitted in any medium other than via PM.

Type of Event: Weekly
Introduction: Challenge your description abilities by writing a paragraph explaining a color as if you were talking to someone who was color blind/blind.
Instructions: Obviously, you can't name the color in your description. Describe emotions and situations that relate to the color you chose.

July 21 - Imitate the Style - Weekly Challenge - Art

Type of Event: Weekly Challenge
Introduction: Choose an artist that inspires you and try to draw an ORIGINAL piece in their style.
Instructions: Identify the artist whose style you are recreating. In the process of drawing, make sure you analyze their techniques. What did they do to achieve that style? Was it their line weight? How they cross hatch? Is it their coloring? Let’s look at our inspirations, all of the people who have helped us grow as artists, and make something in their style. Not in our style, that they have influenced, but as true to their work as we can be. Doing studies of others’ work is a great tool for learning technique.

Include the name of the artist you're imitating.
Do NOT copy a picture directly. The purpose of this challenge is to create an ORIGINAL piece.
