I like using Nnoitra's thief as one of the first signs that the reckoning is coming. He can decide how long his thief sticks around. In my head, it's most likely that when the disasters strike the worlds he'd be gone or change forms.

Are you saying when the thief steals something of value? Like the Hougyoku? He (the thief) would disappear or change forms?

And

(Those who are most knowledgeable of the three groups could find (or recall) some hints to what's coming in their stores, or it can come as surprise. For example, some archives, vague, seem exaggerated, or missing details, remain in Seireitei from the that Juushiro Ukitake (and Shunsui Kyouraku) will find and examine before the message as most search for the "traitor in the wind". They won't report anything however until they are sure.)

Are you saying Juushiro and Shunsui will be the knowledgeable ones if we need information for the games? <*thinks I have misinterpreted that one* …heehee

How can there be a winner when we really can't change the characters standings?

There is no winner until the end. You could be winning for a time period then lose it all in the next survival round or one game could have more in store than one. The end is when the King's key is revealed and someone passes the test to receive it.
