Welcome to my world.

I'm SomeGuy, 29 years old, residing in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I've studied English Literature, Chinese Martial Arts, and am currently pursuing careers in writing - possibly even in the anime industry itself.

And I work for this site.

And you should be watching Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad.
Or watching Ranma 1/2.
Or learning about the Shinsengumi.
Or planning to visit Vancouver, The Best Place On Earth (actual marketing motto).

Here at the "Smallville" page, I have my personal blog where I'll post about anything and everything. If ya need me or otherwise need to know anything from/about me, here's where I'll be.

If you're really looking for my more professional, site-type stuff, you wanna head over my "Metropolis" world.

Not Blaming Vista Per Se . . .

My computer's not broken. I thought I'd preface with that.

Even though the virus/malware sweeps have been clean and I'm pretty sure my machine's not drowning in a puddle of its own electrical vomit and excrement, I've been having performance issues as of late. Most likely I just have a lot of crap piled up that's eating up all my resources. It's a shame, really.

Which reminds me, I should have bugged Ed about getting a hold of a copy of Windows 7 before I left Bellevue. Ah well . . .

I'm probably gonna try to finish all the Sakura-Con meet-up vids back at my mom's house like I did with the first three. Evidently, my old computer still performs reliably in this sense. Perhaps I shall call her tomorrow morning to tell her I'm coming over . . . so yeah, the official post for the meet-up vids isn't gonna be up this night . . .

. . . ah, who am I kidding? FREE PREVIEW FOR THOSE WHO WEREN'T IN CHAT!

Finally, for those of you who have played Heavy Rain or know a bit about it:

Eheh heh heh . . . Jason . . .

In other news, I just finished the third episode of "The Pacific". The marines spend some leave in Australia, and the one marine meets a nice girl who totally goes crazy for him (along with her parents). So she breaks it off with him because she can't take the risk of his dying and breaking her mother's heart after so much loss already. I felt really bad for him, kinda like it stung at me particularly strong or something.

Go fig.

So yeah. Sakura-Con was a blast. Also, Ssamjang is tasty as all fuck. That's right, it's so tasty it got gratuitous profanity. Think about that.

Just Got Home

Got a lotta posting and uploading to do now . . . so let's get some quick thoughts out:

  • No one asked for a picture, but more people recognized my Nathan Drake cosplay this time than last.
  • We have a year to practice Rock Band for next time...
  • I love having a camcorder now.
  • Met Batou again, he's as fun as ever.
  • I've humiliated a bunch of American Otakuites and am now debating whether to show how I did or not... 'cause I want to, but I won't if people aren't game for it.
  • I love pub food.
  • I'm also sad that I can't play Castle Crashers at Stupid Ed's house anymore.
  • It was wonderful to meet another guy with a passion for Bon Jovi power ballads.
  • "Crab Battle..."
  • There are no Sackboys to buy out there!
  • FUNimation is REALLY good at what they do now. I used to begrudge them for pandering and playing the big man... but they are just really, really smart about things they do and I can't help but respect that now.
  • The Shinsengumi rocked ass and took names as per usual.
  • I need to go for Korean Barbecue again sooner than later.
  • Hit up a GameStop on the way home, picked up a couple Rock Band cymbals. I'm quite happy about that.
  • Hit up a Jack in the Box on the way home. Amercs, y'know I love ya, but if THAT was what you consider "medium"... damn.

I'll start cutting some video together soon as I can.

Seattle Here We Come . . .

How the hell is it already convention time? Maaaaaaaan . . .

I'll try to do captions before I leave. Otherwise, see you guys Monday.

Don't die. And remember:

GIRUGAMESH!!!

(Also, the Valkyria Chronicles anime started. The first episode has already looked excellent. WATCH IT!)

Testing . . .

Just testing the image embedding stuff for a bit:

Thank you for your patience. And now, really cute cosplayers:

Still writing stuff . . .

A'ight, so the FUNimation Industry Panel write-up is done. Check.

Next is Brina Palencia and Todd Haberkorn, and then my full "summary" report . . . and then . . . oh! A Shinsengumi cosplay report!!! Yahhh . . . there we go!

I'm still trying to decide how to write my overall report, 'cause my usual style is to document everything from the moment I leave my house to the time I get back to my house. I almost feel like I should write the "professional" summary and the "casual" one with all the stories about hotel rooms and stuff . . . somethin' to figure out, I guess.

So that's that.

And for all you other people . . . Cung Le and Frank Shamrock are MMA fighters for the Strikeforce franchise. I was discussing a title fight they had recently. It was an awesome fight.
