I am? Really? Wow. You'd think there were other girls out there possibly interested in the young-geek-professor look. Indiana Jones was a college professor... *shot* Besides, he looks like he wants to playfully jump someone in that photograph. x33
I just hope things work out for the better. Sometimes things are cast with unknown people simply because those in charge don't want people coming in with preconceived notions or a typecast actor. I know I'd think it was odd if Christopher Lee played a hero/Obi-Wan or if Orlando Bloom was anything other than clueless eye candy. Eccleston, for example, I've seen in a really super-creepy role in a movie called Shallow Grave where post-traumatic stress literally turns his reserved accountant character into a creeper to the extreme. I doubt I will be able to watch his episodes of Doctor Who without thinking about that movie and how goddamn creepy he was. O_o There's also Ewan MacGregor in it too... which made for some interesting Star Wars vs Doctor Who notes being this was in a class.
You're one of the few people whom I've seen say something that positive about him. ^^
Yeah, which is why I pointed out that whole thing about being "unknown" not being any measure of how good he is or not. ^^ I think newer fans who don't know about the classic series are more apt to think it's a bad thing.
I think he's actually quite handsome in that picture, costume and all. x3 Granted I haven't seen anything he's in to my knowledge, but it also could be that Doctor Who is where Mr. Smith will come into his own as an actor and possibly be a good one. I think his lack of exposure makes him both perfect and horrifying, depending on which way you're viewing the situation.
Pfffft. I hope he went back to the person and laughed in their face. X3
Yeah, all my defending could be proved wrong, but I hope not. ^^; I'm just bothered by all of this negative reaction to him without any basis whatsoever. -3-
Criticism like that, reminds me of how Harrison Ford was once told that with a name like that, he'd never go anywhere. *snerks* I'll admit that I have my reservations about him, but at the same time, I'm also going to wait and see how he actually does in the role. Then I'll know if any of my thoughts on the matter turned out to be accurate or not.
