Ugh.

School is out now. I'm not that happy, honestly. I don't know why, but it doesn't seem like we should be out of school yet.

This summer should be interesting. I have two or three things I told people I would do that I probably won't. And I still owe my friend a descriptive writing piece... So much to do! The worst part is that I really don't want to write what I said I would. And then I want to trash the two stories I have already started. This über sucks.

I got a sucky laptop from the school. It's an IBM ThinkPad R30. Old and slow with just a smidge of memory. I've been trying to install Windows 98, XP, or Linux on it, and the only one that wants to take hold is 98, which has a couple of problems such as the need to use infrared to send the ethernet drivers to the thing.... Ugh.

I have to email something to my Cisco teacher that I forgot to turn in on Thursday. Oops.

SCORE!

I don't know if today was the first day I could check mt ACT scores, but I did today in English class. Here's my "informational purposes only" score report:

Well? Now what? The SAT is May 3. Considering I didn't study a tad and Math was one of my highest scoring areas, I'm not too worried.

I'm going to be posting some of my writing for English class as soon as it clears MyDropBox. I didn't want it to get indexed so that I'd have to prove that I am deviantART's ~packless at school. If you want to check it out, my deviantArt page is here.

Getting More Exercise

I love DDR. It's probably my favorite game. It's addicting, and its good exercise. However, when we got an Xbox 360, out PlayStation 2 was exiled to the basement where it sat all alone doing nothing. I'm sure it was happy to see this:

Yes. Our Xbox experienced the three red lights of doom. Thankfully, Microsoft will still fix it for free. Its a matter of waiting for the box to ship it to them and then waiting for them to fix it. Unfortunately, that's going to be a while. Approximately two to three weeks.

I never thought I'd say I'm waiting for an empty box to come by UPS...

Lets just hope Microsoft will fix it right.

Phone on the Fritz

I've hacked my Moto Razr, I'll admit, but this pitfall I experience is by no means caused by such hacks.

I have my phone set up to ask for an unlock code when it starts up so that just in case I lose it. It would only be good for one death/charge cycle. There's only one problem: When a Moto Razr V3C/M is booted with the flip closed, it does not ask for the unlock code. Instead it proceeds happy as a lark as it ignores repeated requests to access camera, download, and ringtone features.

I think I'll complain to Verizon about this problem this weekend. If they say they can't or won't do anything, I'll complain to Moto. If they can't or won't do anything, I may just choose to take my business elsewhere when I get a cell phone. I know it seems petty, but it makes no sense to cripple the phone because you couldn't have possibly entered the lock code...

At least you can still enter the code if the flip was open when it displayed the welcome message. It's just that it should wait for me to enter it whether the flip is opened or closed.

Well, this wolf needs to get to bed so he can function on Friday. I went to a concert yesterday/last night, and I'm still beat from that. Also, I'd like to make a video tomorrow that might warrant posting on youtube. It will be definitely interesting.

HP Sucks

Yesterday I went to Wal-Mart and paid $20 for an HP headset microphone thing that has two separate "around the ear" headphones fused by a microphone on the cord. The box promised "crystal clear audio both ways." So I plug it in. Here's my list of grievances:

AS HEADPHONES

  • The audio is tinny at best
  • The headphones somehow echo into the microphone at extremely low levels of volume

AS A MICROPHONE

  • Very little or no signal
  • If there is a signal, its AM band talk radio or echo of headphones

Does no signal whatsoever qualify as "crystal clear audio"? I certainly don't think so. I'm very dissatisfied with my purchase, and I'm planning on taking it back some time today. The quality of product I received was simply unacceptable. HP should be ashamed.
