I applaud you for being down to earth about this whole issue. Mostly because at this point in my life I find myself quick to judge a movie based on something I love harshly rather than objectively. Thankfully, I usually catch myself before I step into the theater or my couch.
Now as for the movie adaptation for Harry Potter...I actually think that they've done a good job so far. The only "bad" one I've seen so far was the fith one, but only because I didn't like the book so much myself. ^_~
I can't wait to hear what you've got for the Last Airbender movie. I watched it myself today along with others (Aduro, Frozen August, and my mom) who are die-hard Avatar fans and...well...I'll hold my tongue on the matter for now that way you can watch the movie and judge it for yourself.
