haha My mom's never seen it either, but she's seen people cosplaying it before, and often talks about how she wants to make those costumes. And the way she describes what she thinks it's about is very funny. Something like, "Those ones in the black, with the swords" I don't think anyone else would know which ones she meant. XD
She also kinda knows Naruto, Kingdom Hearts, and has watched part of Rurouni Kenshin.
We both work on making costumes as a hobby/way to make extra cash. (so she knows whats popular in anime to some extent) We've made all kinds of cosplay… most recently 3 Elsas and one Anna from Frozen.
"Why are there a bunch of naked people?" - the first time I saw AoT my boyfriend walked in on the middle of an episode and said the exact same thing! (we were supposed to watch it together but I got impatient)

That's what I thought when I first saw AoT...I then tried to watch it to make sense of it but then I got creeped out...
That's cool that your mom is watching anime, and making costumes sounds like a cool hobby!
