Actually, the term "meme" as something that gets repeated was coined by Richard Dawkins in his 1976 book The Selfish gene, and he took it from some Greek word I can't remember right now. ^^

Yep, that's how debates go on the internet (and in real life, too). You can't ever expect to WIN an argument, but rather to fairly represent your side. That's all I ever try to achieve these days, because the rest of it isn't worth the added effort.
I saw part of that Daily Show segment last night. I thought it was actually quite good of McCain to (EDIT: try to) set the record straight. I believe the people running his campaign have gone a tad too far in their negative ads.
I never care for negative political ads in the first place, though. I would rather the candidate try and summarize what their positions are on the issues and what benefits they'll bring, with as little mud-slinging as possible plz.
Yes, Movie Sign is really quite fun.
I'm sure there will be even more memes made in the near future. :P

I'm glad you think that. ^^ That distinction between religion and the laws of the land is very important. If we don't have that, we would end up as bad as any other theocratic state in the world.
Some people... make me glad our country isn't run by religious institutes even though I am religious. That separation is so necessary and that debate just proves it in my mind. o_O If I ever become like that... shoot me please.
Now when it comes to the debates for the election, I just haven't had time to watch them. I am on fall break this week but I'm enjoying having time off too much. I really should watch them since I having a hard time deciding on who I should vote for.^^
I would have characterized the debates that I've seen since joining OtakuBoards as being overrun by members (only one in paticular) who's posts who should equal this kind of response = tl;dr (for the sheer inanity of the proposed content) Or it could be my indifference in relation to time I want to spend wasting on a one sided debate like that. *shrug*
Moving along, just as I don't have or rather don't want to spend the time answering certain debates, I haven't had time to watch the election ones either.
I'd comment on the movie sign deal, but that's a feature of theOtaku that I cannot access at this time. Sounds like it's fun though.
I have to accept that others are just too entrenched in what they already think to ever be convinced otherwise.

Now if I could just get other members to walk away from it. *sighs* I kind of feel bad for you though, since the Lounge honestly isn't like that all the time. So don't let that initial impression scare you away.^^ However, those topics tend to eventually go downhill...
Anyway, I didn't really see the debates or watch any of that stuff. So at the moment, I'm completely out of the loop on that.

The debates on the OB interested me for all of an hour. I posted, like 5 things, then it lost it's amusement.
