Basically, having some utterly amazing character like Kamina, then just killing him off really does make for a let down for the rest of the series. I realize that they wanted to develop Simon, but quite simply, I would have liked the series better if Kamina wasn't in it at all, as then I wouldn't have been exposed to the amazing that Kamina is, only to have it taken away.
The entire middle I just hated, and found rather contrived, and while the end was really epic, it really only is 'cause they are using the entire f-ing universe. Anyone could make that epic, especially when you kill off all the random side characters.
Whatever the case...overall, it was a moderately good series.
