Yeah I thought it was some kind of optical illusion for a prank but this was some weird thing that just happened I think. I'm glad someone explained it, I thought I was going crazy XD
Boggles my mind that some people claim that they see a white dress. I read that its a combination of the lighting in the picture and the sensitivity of retina's cones in the eyes. This picture made such chaos that it was on the news this morning lol XD

I honestly see Blue and Gold. Maybe its the light but I see a mixture of blue, gray and gold. My mom just saw something like this on FB. They said it had to do something about the cones in our eyes. Something like that. Anyway fascinating stuff.
I see a blue dress with black lace. I adjusted the brightness and saturation and the dress is blue. I feel the bright white lighting in the pic is throwing people off. XD Here is the adjusted pic. ----> Linky pic.

Honestly I think the of quality the photo is what is throwing people off. If you clean up the image, the dress is blue and black.
I don't really see how people are even getting the colors white and gold unless it's the bright light and the background's doing and the quality of the image.

I saw this all over Tumblr! I have looked at this stupid photo for like ages and I do not see the black & blue dress!! I only see the white with gold lace!!! Everyone else in my family sees what I see, so I don't understand what's going on xD
If this is some crazy optical illusion, this is a very very VERY good one!

This reminds me of one time that my mom bought me a pink and black dressy shirt, and half of the people we asked thought it was pink and brown.
I checked the link you provided and I think my mind has been officially blown. I figured it had something to do with the lighting.

umm...I actually see a white and gold laced dress... I believed it's the lighting of the pic that is making the white to have that bluish color..
My sis just looked at this and saw a blue with black laced dress...
so...that just confused the heck out of us and I can see why you are concern with this...
Is this what they called "optical illusion"?
