It seems like he's doing okay. He hasn't made a mess in the house for a few days until yesterday. Yesterday he slipped on the kitchen floor and couldn't get up for a while. We would try to help him up but sometimes he snaps like he's going to bite. Today I was worried he would slip on the ice covering the back porch but he was able to get down alright.
He is old. Around 15-16 years old and he's a big a dog (a Golden Retriever mix). We were thinking of getting those dogging wheelchairs but our house is small and then there's the stairs.
He's a Golden Retriever/Great Pyrenees mix and about 15-16 years old.
He's been crippled for over a year now. The reason they're thinking of euthanize him is because he can't control his defecation anymore and almost every day he makes a mess in the house. Maybe there is a way to fix that but if it costs too much I don't think they'll think of other alternatives.

loosing a dog is one of the hardest things in life
it took my dad about 15 years or so to even think about getting a new one
so i know the pain your going through T^T
i feel as if putting him down is not the right choice either
he is still so active and needs to be taken to a good vet

I know how it feels to loose a loving family member like this.
I just wanna say that if you guys have a choice to get him a good home that will take care of his leg, take that chance!
I didn't have a choice with mine...And I don't wanna see this happen to any other dog

this is really heart breaking. I could never bring myself to put him down, but it's a big decision to make and you always have to think what would be better for him.
I hope that there is another option for you then having to put him down. :(

This is the Husky right??? I think you need to take him to a Vet because this is common in Huskies!!! Don't put him down at the very least see if a family will adopt him!!! My goodness there are always ways to work this out instead of putting him down...

thats terrible - -but i've seen dogs walk/run/jump with 3 legs so he may adapt to 3 legs T_T but if he's old - and it'll get worse....
