Yeah, here in Alaska there are no life guards at the lakes (even the really busy ones)

I went swimming in Quartz lake with Sabriella and our little brother 2 weeks ago. There were tons of little kids in the shallow swimming area, all of the parents were on the shore and very few of the kids had flotation devices. Sabe and I were the only adults in the water, we were actually taking care of one of our Mom's friend's kid. She refused to wear her water wings so we stayed close. Then when we got back to the campsite I found out that our brother had to remove a leach! And everyone who had swum had gotten swimmers itch!(or something like that). Go thing we don't have snakes here.

It is very common around here to have lakes open without lifeguards.
In fact, the only place I've been to that DOES have a lifeguard is at the Army Base indoor pool. That's it.

Back in Vancouver by my Gramma's there's a man-made lagoon there that people used to swim there all the time. About 100 feet deep when you get in the middle. There's also lots and lots of seeweed. And about 10 bodies are found in it every year. Usually they get tangled in the seeweed and drown. Crazy, A??? D8
I never swan there because I can't swim, and I'm glad!!

At least your sunburn is healing~ :D
    That's great news ^__^

yeah, kids don't realize there are no lifeguards, and they don't have the sense of danger that older people do. so they just dive right in.
