Maybe is a new type of virus, idk if this works but try to uninstall firefox and install another one, but make sure that the other works and doesnt have any virus.

I would forcibly close fire fox and reopen it. If this doesn't work, try rebooting your computer. It sounds like it might be glitch however I wouldn't count out a virus sneaking past your security system.
