I don't agree with this theory either. True, Venonat and Butterfree have the same eyes and body color. But beyond that, the similarities end.
The greatest fear is that of the unknown.

I actually disagree with the theory you posed. Yes, Venonat looks like Butterfree, but Venomoth doesn't have that same connection to Caterpie and Metapod.
