I have stayed up ridiculously late (5 o'clock) reading manga online when I had to get up ridiculously early (6 o'clock) to go to school, so, yeah. I get the whole feeling like an idiot, thing.
O.O And I thought my parents sacrificed for me during school. That's really awesome people do that for their kids (if, that is, the kids actually want to be hauled out of bed that early). *bows in admiration of their determination and willing spirits*

'Tis the nature of the early morning hockey practice, my dear. Weekends or evenings for the really young kids, 6:30am in the weekday morning for the younger kids, 5:30am for the slightly older kids.
Part of what makes a hockey mom badass, driving the kids out to these things.
