Though I have not recently had need to search for geeky baby toys, I will admit that the past few times I've been told to pick things for showers and Christmas and birthdays I gravitate towards the books. Some things like Dr. Seuss, Eric Carle and some lift-the-flap books would probably do him good not just now for story time, but come in handy when he's learning to read in a couple years. I know I got my one friend's daughter Stellaluna that was printed on clunky cardboard so it doesn't rip easy. Just make sure to teach him that books are for looking and not for chewing. Found I had to do that the hard way about ten years ago. *looks at youngest brother*
...and I still cannot get over how adorable that kid is. I'm jealous.
