They have a decent policy in place but it could stand for some improvement. The way I've usually seen it done is as follows:
1. They ship you the new part.
2. Included with the new part is a return shipping label.
3. You ship your old part back in the box the new one was sent in.
4. You are charged for the new part if the old one is not received within 30 days.

Personally, I think that makes a lot more sense and it seems more fair to the customer. After all, you should not have to pay $24.50 for your free replacement. So yeah, definitely ask them about a refund for the shipping. Sometimes these companies are cooperative and actually give it to you.

That sounds like a hassle and the shipping? Ouch!
