You are so right in what you say about critique *nod nod* It's like with writing, really. When someone else looks at your work they spot typos and such that you've completely overlooked.
When you have someone looking to your artwork and give you tips that could help you improve it, you start to look at your art with different eyes and make a good piece becomes an excellent one.
So yes, I agree with you constructive critique can really help you improve your artwork. And its also fun to challenge yourself and your capacities, isn't that right?
