Maybe all of you should go off the usual path; go and see some total art-house movie. Imagine this: The movie fluctuates between black-and-white and 60s primary colored tones; it's also subtitled, naturally, but the subtitles refer to the parts in color only; and the plot revolves around "deconstruction the other within us."
You're more knowledgeable about movies than I am, so I'm at a loss about what to watch. I really like this tradition your family has, but I dunno how I could keep it going...

I agree with Miss A. Then you have the world of movies at your feet! Elf? SURE! Muppet Christmas Carol? EVEN BETTER! It's A Wonderful Life (for the thousandth time in a row)? WHY NOT! Polar Express? THAT'S CHRISTMAS-Y! The Grinch with Jim Carrey? WHO DOESN'T LIKE CHRISTMAS SHENANIGANS!

(Let's not forget the most EPIC of all Christmas shenanigan movies -- Home Alone. Heck yes!)

Heck, I can't think of any movie that's in theaters right now that's good for recommendations.
Can't you just stay home and watch something the entire family treasures? Or even try renting a new one? Why go to the movies? :P
Staying at home has its perks, after all. You can pause the movie if someone needs to pee or wants to get a snack, among other benefits.
