    It should get resolved just fine; once everyone knows the real facts here, it'll be okay. *pats*

    BUT MERRY CHRISTMAS ANYWAY! *pie'd*

    I've never had that happen to me, thankfully. I tend to keep all of my receipts, no matter how useless they are (I probably still have a receipt somewhere for some bottle of chocolate milk I bought a year ago.) From what I can gather, it does sound fishy. Just keep on asking questions, and see where it leads. It'll get resolved sometime, and for the better I hope!

    @Ducky:

    Well, the weird part about it is that my bank account is unaffected by it (so far at least -- I'm watching it like a hawk right now). My checking account is the only real source of money I have, and there are no records of any spending aside from withdrawals I know I've made. And believe me, I check the account online at least once a week, haha. This is either a total (heart attack-inducing, haha) mistake, or someone nabbed a piece of my information and tried to start some sort of credit card account, or something.

    And, yikes, all my hair would probably turn gray if I ever lost my social security card!

    Ugh. I really hope all is resolved smoothly. It sounds like it should work out, especially if your bank stays on top of things.

    I remember the sheer wave of panic I drowned in when I lost my social security card. >> Damn identity-theft-age.

    This kind of stuff is a total pain. On the plus side, since you've already contacted them, that's a good plus. Usually in cases like this - and after a lengthy round of questions - any money you're supposed to owe usually comes back to you because you got rocked.

    Good luck sorting this out sooner than later, man.

    Yeah, you can't be too careful these days. >>;

    Shred everything your don't file away. I remember when I found out someone had bought stuff using my card info. I was fortunate though that I got a call like the next day from card services and was able to cancel the card right then.

    That sucks, bro. Hope it gets resolved.

    And I think we all could learn a lesson or two from Scrooge McDuck, considering his obscenely wealthy status and extremely stingy mannerisms never really turned on him in a big enough Karmic Backlash to keep me from wanting to be rich.
