I never thought so, either, until I read this article, which builds upon some misgivings I had from the early scenes in the movie. It builds a persuasive argument, I think. But again, even I never thought about the movie like that, I'd still enjoy it just because it is so wild.
Wow, you went for some oldies this week! I've never seen any of them though...but they do seem interesting. X3 I tend to like old movies and tv shows. Anything with Bob Hope, that's for sure! So yeah, anyhoo, very cool!
Holy Lipshitz, Shin-nii! I knew most of the films you were talking about this week, and none of it was anime!
I never thought about Point Blank as being a dream sequence, ever. Yes, it was over the top, but not in that regard. I don't have my notes with me (as they're being reviewed for content; my poor teacher), so I can't argue as much as I would like... but yeah. -3-
The Thing From Another World is one of my favorite horror/sci-fi movies from the '50s (outside of MST3k) because of how everything felt very Cold War and "OMFG KILLER CARROT RUN AWAY DON'T DO IT SCIENCE DUDE!!2!" I was also pleased with the female's role, considering how even "progressive" women back then seemed to have a fascination with falling down and screaming while in movies. >>' It made me glad to get to Ellen Ripley in Alien later on that semester.
Oh, and yeah, harassing James Arness is always fun.

The original Thing is definitely less scary than the '82 remake simply because of the time it was made in. Sort of like the original Blob vs it's remake. Still though, one of the all-time scifi classics. ^^
