I too was geared up to see Scrimegour and the Muggle Prime Minister, but I have to admit that I gladly took watching the Muggle Bridge snap right in half in cheerful stride. As far as telling the story (cutting out the romance, of course), this was one of the better Harry Potter movies. I liked the fact I saw them in their uniforms... which were becoming more and more nonexistent since the third movie decided that they needed to dress incredibly hip and futuristic for 1993. I think most of the people involved are forgetting that this is supposed to be the Nineties.
I also kind of wanted the all-out wizard's duel between the Death Eaters and Hogwarts guards, but Bellatrix throwing a fit of sheer glee seemed to make that desire just vanish. It was weird... kinda.
Seeing Draco crying in the bathroom was one of the few points in the movie where I could not hold in my laughter. The funeral + booze + a very "lucky" Harry sequence was hilarious... mainly because I got to see Hagrid and Slughorn piss drink. XDD
Hmmm... I wonder how lucky Harry would have been otherwise if the Felix Fedelis lasted a few hours longer, eh? *shot*
A Luna-Osaka comedy hour would be most glorious... I agree.
Luna Lovegood and Osaka should do a comedy routine. Just to see how far off-topic they can get from each other. I would pay large sums of money to see it.
Personally, I think I still prefer the fourth overall. Might be just because looking back, Half-Blood Prince is pretty awkwardly written even in book form, but I didn't like some of the changes they made (not to say that there weren't any changes for the better. Aragog's funeral was awesome in the movie, and the bathroom duel seemed somehow cooler with the guerrilla warfare thrown in.) It seemed weird cutting out some more important bits, such as Dumbledore's actual funeral or Rufus Scrimgeour (I was looking forward to him ;_;.)
I will say that they did do a good job of actually deciding what was less important and could be cut, unlike the third movie where the plot was mangled to make time for the camera to rape the scenery.
Also, the budding romance seemed more like HEY THEY'RE SIXTEEN LET'S THROW IN A BUNCH OF SHOTS OF THEM GNAWING EACH OTHERS FACES OFF.
And I loled at Draco's subplot. No sir, he's not up to anything at all.
I think at this part, anyone who hasn't read the books will have a load of things take them by surprise. RemusTonks, BillFleur, Rufus Scrimgeour, Teddy, Victorie, all the deaths, Merope Gaunt... and that's just skimming the surface. D:
Long, long ago, I gave up trying to judge these as book adaptations and just as their own incarnation of the canon. *sighs* Oh well.

I have a feeling that the reason the romance was awkwardly done in the movie was 'cause it was also awkwardly done in the book. I dunno, I never actually read the sixth book, but Ducky did and man she did not care for it. lol
Have I told you yet that I blame you for not being able to take one iota of Half Blood Prince seriously while I saw it in the theatre? Well, I totally blame you and that fun-poking thing you wrote. 8D
...and I do happen to agree with you overall. It was totally sweet, for a movie version of the series. I kept on catching things here and there like Tonks sneaking in a "sweetie" at Remus and the severe lack of Phlegm (as opposed to an excess of (ha--chapter title)). I suppose the filmmakers are going to attempt to make up for things in the next two movies. At least Luna still rocked.
The romance was horridly forced though, but necessary. They didn't have much to work with when it came to the romantic moments for character/relationship building (although Harry and Hermione STILL seem to have better chemistry than Ron and Hermione D:). I mean, they needed to create the stuff so that the people who only watch the movies don't have the end pairings smack them in the face with one of those Magic Mexican Jumping Beans from Potions. I was explaining to my one friend the entire seventh book on the ride home, as he stopped at the end of the fifth, and could tell that the spoiling was almost necessary.
I believe this movie also has me more of a raving Rupert-and-Daniel-have-wicked-talent-fan and has also made it so that I doubt I will be able to hear the word "skin" the same way for a long, long time.
I also blame you for Tom Felton looking incredibly dreamy in a suit tailored for evil... but that's another story entirely. XDD

For now, I only have this to say about the movie:
Harry on luck potion was well worth the price of admission. And movies in Japan cost FIFTEEN BUCKS.

I agree. Definitely don't totally blame the movie for the awkward romance.

Oh man, I cannot believe I forgot to mention Luna. That is unforgivable. She is far away and the best part of the movie. Love her. <3
lol, for anyone who hasn't read the books, I bet Tonks x Remus comes completely out of nowhere. xD
