I am now officially addicted to conventions! It was a blast - just being around so many different anime fans at once was an unforgettable experience! Plus I met someone from theOtaku (reirei) selling her prints in the Artist's Alley.
Definitely try to check one out - even if it's a small one. We bought tickets in advance as a group so for 3 days of fun, it only cost $35 (which is about 3 2-hr movies or 3 manga to put it into perspective).

Sadness. I've always wanted to go somewhere. but i'm so far south! T.T The most I cut off my hair was 4 or 5 inches. I'm not going that crazy anymore.
