The same thing happened to me a few years ago. In short, my best friend ditched me for the "popular crowd". It got more complicated than that so I can't say the situations are exactly the same, but they're similar. Anyway, in my opinion, if he's going to ditch you at the drop of a hat, he's not a true friend and doesn't deserve to have you as a friend. I'd say that if the situation doesn't start to get better, if you can, forget about him and hang out with your other friends. I know that sounds a little bit harsh, but I'm saying it from experience. I hope it does get better though, because it's not a fun situation to be in.
