Ash is 10 and pikachu will always be weak because it is a preevolved pokemon.(Yellow version sucks because pikachu is sooo weak no matter what level it is at)

I kinda wonder way they don't make the main character as awesome as the rival.
But it is probably because of the trend to have a happy retard(pardon the r-word) as the main character who loves everyone and the rival to be an awesome ass.
But to be honest, if they changed the main cast entirely I probably wouldn't watch it anymore...
Ash, well. The first game came out...95, was it? *checks* Ok, '96. And I think he was supposed to be 14. So he should be 28 now! XD He's almost 30, yet he still looks the same. It's amazing lol.
