That is a bummer. Being focused on that one idea or story can also hinder the development of that particular story itself. Hopefully you are able to find some way to help though.
I have that happen to me a lot but mostly with random projects to build. However, I came up with a story idea that won't get out of my head. The only way I have been able to work on other things is to write down the information I have developed for it. It seems to trick my brain just enough to not be so focused on it all the time.
