you could have glass shards flying away from one and then blood from the other, or something like that

Try different basic textures, i.e. a paper texture vs. a marble texture.

very very tricky... hmmm a bright light coursing between the two gradually giving way to the worlds they live in? Idk but good luck i'd love to see it when its done
