You should read the manga, asdfghjkl I LOVE IT as if it's not already blatantly obvious
Honestly, the first seven books or so are funny, but pretty much plotless (although there's a bit of character development). Then it gets epic. Plus the art gets so crazy awesome later and there's tons of attractive men
