I tried the songs you suggested and I liked a lot of them; especially the ones from Darker Than Black and Ghost in the Shell. From now on I'll also try listening to the composers of background music. :)
Thanks for suggesting Yoko Kanno. It'll be interesting to see what I can find. If you have any more suggestions I'd be glad to hear them.

You are most certainly not -- though, usually, I hunt down the composer of the background music rather than the artist of the OP/ED.
